I am not sure if you are buying new or used. If used, call this guy. He is a friend of mine and has good equipment.

I will vouch for American Ag if going used as well. Good dude.

Looks like American Ag LLC is quite far from me, but is this a good deal?

I would compare it to a new one and look on Tractor House for comps. Also do not know if it 4WD and/or HST.

IMO - It does not seem like a bad deal and was one of the lower hour ones I saw on their site.

I bought my Kubota BX 2320 (23HP) new in 2013 for $11K.

Just saw recently it was assessed at $16K for property tax. WTF.

Then saw a similar new Kubota now costs $26K.

WTF.

How is a tractor part of the property tax?
I'm not sure if his tractor is in Virginia or California. I know Virginia you pay personal property taxes on cars, boats, and anything else they can think of. Hiding property, like boats, is very common there.

In Loudoun County, Virginia, it's $4.15 per $100 valuation. How would you like to pay over $3300/year property tax on your $80,000 truck or SUV?

https://www.loudoun.gov/1902/Personal-Property-Taxes

The tractor is in CA. It's a county assessment. I don' think it's a big payment but I'll be calling them to see if I can get an exemption or not.

OP, I have 5 acres and I wish I had a bigger tractor. My 23HP kubota is fine. But once in a while I could use a bigger one.

At what HP rating does the EPA start requiring any kind of BS for exhaust on diesel tractors these days?

That might be a consideration.

I have an old 23HP ford and it does fine with a lot of things on my place except for cutting summer pasture grass. That bogs it down and I have to go slow and tinker with the cutter height.

FEL with a grapple gets used all the time for brush, logs, moving heavy objects including other implements. 4wD would also be useful

75hp and above require the use of DEF.

There are requirements on lower hp than that. My L4701 Kuboata which is 47hp has a diesel particulate filter which goes through regen cycles. I wasn't thrilled about it but it hasn't been a big deal. Honestly I think Kubota came out with that 25 hp tractor as that was just below the threshold for emission requirements. I personally think it is underpowered given the frame size.

Tier 4 requirements started in 2008 and were rolled out over a phased approach based on HP through 2015. Anything 2015 and after, regardless of HP, is Tier 4 requirement with DEF and DPF/regen systems.

I specifically bought my tractor out of several I was looking at because it doesn't have any of that nonsense on it.

I bought a new JD tractor 2 years ago that does not require DEF. It does have the regen system, however.

Maybe I am misunderstanding what you are saying, but I'm pretty confident that even new 75hp and below do not require DEF.

in addition to looking into planting a few rows of black spanish grape vines in an attempt to be able to farm-to-table source my drinking problem some day, I was also thinking about some clover seed over an open area or two as a food plot for the whitetail.

would I really need a disc or tiller attachment as well as a cultipacker, roller, or drag as the instructions on the clover seed mixes seem to indicate?

Clover seeds are simple to plant. You don't want them deeper than 1/4" imho. I have planted plenty by disturbing the soil, broadcast the seeds, then use a simple pipe or something to drag over them with.
Then pray for rain.

But this is the OB. We will have you buying a new 100hp 4WD cab tractor, a 20 ft disc plow, a $50,000 grain drill, pasture roller and installing an irrigation well and pivot system to water them.

anyone have any experience with an outfit called "WC Tractor"? Kubota and New Holland dealer. Their Bryan location looks like the closest for me.

they list some package deals on their website.. might be the way to go.

Somewhat related: I have mostly worked with JD equipment and have found the online parts manuals generally accessible to all and easy to navigate. Then able to source those parts online through various retailers or local dealers. Only issue is prices have that extra mark-up thanks to the color…

Are the other manufacturers similar for parts manual accessibility and sourcing? And pricing?

I'll vouch for this. I needed a new headliner for my cab tractor. Went to JD site. Found my tractors parts manual. Entered my serial and model number and then picked the parts needed. Added to cart and picked my store.
In four days store called and had all my parts and all were correct.
I have used the system many times ordering air filters and lubricant filters etc. really makes it easy.

I've bought commercial zero turn from their location in Sealy. They are a reputable dealer with multiple locations. I've watched them grow their footprint over the last 15 years.

Really, go with the one which is closest to you with parts and service.

If nothing is close, take a look at Summit, they have good 25 hp packages and have heard quite a good things about them.

All that said, anything a 25 hp can do a 45 hp can do better, and get it done quicker. 4' brush hog versus 8' for example.
Quarterback can't throw the ball lying on his back.

They probably don't, I made an assumption since they have regen.

Have had no problems doing the same with my Kubota.

Sometimes I can find pricing cheaper at a non-dealer, but one of the things with the advent of the internet is that most places are remarkably similar in price to the dealer these days.

I tend to go the online route if they have the part in stock and shipping keeps it close. Being able to just buy it and have it shipped to the house is nice versus going to the dealer, even if the dealer isn't out of the way for me.

I bought a finish mower from their Sealy location years ago. No complaints at all, good people there.

Just got a Mahindra 6075(pre-owned). It's a bare bones tractor and well built. It does have a shuttle shifter, 4wd, front end loader and we just installed a third function for a grapple. Thing is a beast. Had one warranty work item that needed to be fixed. Took it to the Fort Worth dealer and was in/out. I'd take a hard look at Mahindra.

If you're worried about emissions regulations, they only apply to a certain HP.
