This is a huge shot in the dark, but does anyone know of or farm pecans themselves? I have a squirrel dog pup (Treeing Feist) that I've been busting my butt to put on squirrels to get started. We've logged a ton of miles in the LBJ Grasslands up by the house without even a bit of luck. I'm almost of the opinion that there are no squirrels in Wise County!

Figured I'd give this a shot to see if anyone knows of someone who might let me run the pup to get him started and onto some squirrels.

I went out a couple months ago to a c workers place to hunt squirrels. He's got about 30 acres. He had a shotgun and i had a .22. Saw three squirrels all morning. He killed one with his shotgun. None of the three squirrels ever stopped for a shot with my .22 and I followed them for a couple hundred yards. It was the strangest thing to me, usually squirrels will run for awhile then stop. These just kept going from tree to tree. It was also a foggy overcast morning which we think affected the number of squirrels out.

Most of the Annual Public Hunting Areas as well as most all of the National Forests etc are open to squirrel hunting year round. But I would wait till after deer season....

You need to go set up a tree stand and climb into it with a bow in hand. In minutes you will be covered up in squirrels.

Exactly. Put on a pair of those wildlife microphone ear muffs. They walk around like elephants....

I shot one in my backyard with an air rifle a few weeks ago, the little (b-word) and his friends have been chewing up the fence lately. My neighbor saw me do it and asked if he could have the deceased. He texted me a pic later of the squirrel stew he made for lunch. Gotta love Oregon rednecks, even if they live in town.

see if you cant find an oak grove. theres still a ton of acorns on the ground in my neck of woods

Take him to Memorial park or Herman park in Houston, thousands of squirrels.

Been trying to find all the oak stands we can on the LBJ that aren't too thick to walk through. Every acorn I've seen so far on the ground has been rotten on the inside.
