As deer season winds down my thoughts are turning to the next big thing in the horizon. Have never chased sandies during the spawn but was wanting some spots, don't have a boat, off the bank near the Henderson/Nac area. Also, when should I start targeting these spots? Again I know it's early but just wanting to get the discussion going lol.

In between Centerville and Crockett on Hwy. 7 is a good spot. Someone help me out on the name of the bait camp there?

They will start moving to creek mouths to spawn when the water temps get around 50 degrees plus. It will continue into the low 70's typically.
We used to fish the highland lakes from the bank. If you know how to throw a cast net try to find shad and use them as live bait. We used to kill them doing that.
I don't know if that works in the area you talking about or not but it was our go to plan.
If you can catch them schooling the old reliable artificial bait of a gold or chrome Johnson spoon still works good.
Best of luck to you.

This may be a road trip for you.

Neches River: Above Lake Palestine, anglers can find public access at Chandler River Park featured in this TPWD YouTube Video. This RACA site offers nearly 6,000 feet of river frontage for bank fishing and includes a boat ramp and kayak launch.

I've definitely thought of making that drive but it is a haul for me.
