257 Roberts is a classic and super practical round.

However - it's parent case is the 7x57 Mauser, not the 7mm REM Mag. That is a belted magnum case derived from the 375 H&H. Just wanted to clear the air in case anybody thought they had to make their own brass.

I heart the 257 Roberts.

Located near Franklin if you need some? Just asking what I paid for them.

And save the brass for me since I can reload them.

Are the ones you have currently reloaded? How much are you asking for them?

No, same as in the pictures. BNIB
That's why I would like the brass back if possible so I can reload them in the future. I bought them for $57.99 in Belton.

Tarnished brass from oxidation, use a small amount of Barkeeper's Friend and wipe down until it's smooth. Wipe off excess, then lightly coat with some gun oil. Ready to

Tarnished brass has zero effect on the round. Polishing it up is an aesthetic improvement only.

Corroded brass is a different story though.

Great round, but must buy from online handloaders, or reload your self. Choice Ammo and Hendershots ammo both have a few options for this round. I have had great results with both companies, but they both very proud of their products.
My dad has a handload for .257 Roberts that is well under .5 MOA in my old Ruger M77 tang safety with 22" sporter barrel. If you have brass; I would be glad to give you the load info.

Yea that's why I sent him the picture. It didn't look like either. It almost looked like paint. But he and my wife both think it's just a funny looking tarnish.

Sighted in my Ruger with it and it shot fine. Just funny looking.

Just an FYI

All the major manufacturers had a run of them this year in both regular and +p versions. So it is available online again online for anyone interested.

It came out at about the same time newly made .250 and .300 savage hit. Must have done all three at the same time.

I was coming to post the same thing. For years it wasn't available but it is now. I do have a guy that will reload for $2/round if I bring him brass or $5/round without, but it was a minimum 100 rounds and I just don't shoot enough to justify that. And now that manufacturers have it available I'm good to go
