Not unless you're checking 3 bags. I've never checked a bow case with them but have checked rifle cases. As long as you don't exceed 2 checked bag threshold, it should be free.

They told me it has to be under 62" length plus width plus height.

I can't imagine a bow case that would be under that

I would call them about 2-3 times and see if you get a consistent answer… I bet you don't. Their website makes it seem like it has to be 62" (total height + width + length). My rifle case is larger than that and I've never had them charge for it.

Not saying that's 100% but we're talking about the people that will tell you need a TSA lock on your firearm case when no one is supposed to have access but you.

I've called them like 5x and gotten 5 different answers. Their like actual job aid is in direct conflict to their website and says that bow, case and average sized target are good, anything over that and it's extra.

One person has told me it would be free, one person told me $125/way, 2 people have said $200/way, one lady said as long as the length isn't over 62" I'm good (not l+w+h). My cousin who I'm going with has never been charged, but I cannot, on principle, pay $400 in baggage fees for a $187 flight

Think you're going to show up and it will be free. Just be confident and prepared to tell them that you spoke to several people and all said if under length and weight, it would be free.

Per recommendation of this board, I always travel with TSA and specific airline rules printed and laminated. That's for a firearm but it has saved my ass a few times when TSA and/or airline employees tried to make me remove my locks for TSA locks.

Good luck with this!

Get some glove liners, I'd get two pairs one pair that is silvery and another pair that is just regular so that you can switch them out.
