In still in Port O'Connor and wind here has been variable but is currently blowing out of the north. The fireworks show last night was cancelled but the Trump boat parade went ahead yesterday afternoon. There were a lot of boats but I would say not as many as the one in 2020. I think a lot of people secured their homes on Friday/Saturday and went home. Definitely fewer people in town than a normal holiday weekend.

We will be leaving this morning ourselves and I am debating whether to go home in Houston or not. We have a barndo in Wharton County and while it may also take a direct hit, if I'm going to be somewhere without electricity and water, I'd rather do it there than in Houston.

Right now the NWS has it coming in at collegeport, if the trend of shifting east continues it will hit Sargent.
Animal8 will take it on the chin, except it should be a pretty weak storm as storms go. Of course 2003 Claudette might say hello.

There would have to be a pretty drastic turn for it to hit Galveston significantly. Everything seems to be lined up somewhere between sea drift and palacios

I got a text from my son this morning that they are leaving. Don't know how much damage Galveston might get but his mom is not known for good judgement and I'd prefer that they error on the side of caution.

My mom and aunt are staying in Galveston. They have prepped and are ready to ride it out.

I would prefer they come inland but she says it's just a "baby hurricane".

My parents are asking me if I need to evacuate from Tomball to Galveston at this point.

Could have been great. Either way, tomorrow we're watching it on TV Still kinda get to enjoy it from afar. I love nasty weather. We'll get our rain later.

I just drove thru that band on I-10 from Katy to tollway. Heavy downpour. Big lightning at the tail end. Nothing more than a regular heavy rain scenario. Not looking forward to the next 24 hours though. Sure wish you hill country guys were getting this instead.

And of course plenty of Galveston people just cruising the beach .. and a few idiots in the surf
