Probably not the right forum but this forum seems to have answers

Does anyone know where I could find 5-10 of the 600 barrel or bigger oil field tanks that are in the 12 foot wide x 29 foot tall range.. we use a small terminal who would install the tanks if I can find some, they can be used if in good shape. They must be carbon steel or stainless. I'm just digging around for my contact. We are not interested in the smaller 500 bbl type tanks that are wider and shorter. 50,000 gallon tall narrow tanks would also work.

Any info would be helpful. I figured some of you guys down in the Eagleford / oil field services may know where some of these may be located.

Thanks

That's a rare tank size. So rare that in a 20 year career of upstream oil operations, I don't think I ever saw one. 400 bbl is going to be the most common 12' diameter tank. If you're set on 12' diameter 600, I'm sure they can be made. There are several tank manufacturers in San Angelo as well as Midland/Odessa area.

I understand, this place is in the Houston area so manufacturers out in Odessa probably wouldn't work. I've seen some lay down yards in the Eagleford area with 30-40 used tanks pulled off well pads, some were the 12 ft looking ones, I'll have to go down there and figure out whose those are, but some looked taller than the short 400 bbl ones for some reason… but I'm not in the oil field so I bet even the ones I saw are probably 400 bbl tanks like your saying

Appreciate the info

The most common tanks I see in the field are the 16' 500 bbl steel or fiberglass tanks. Our new builds are the tall 1k bbl steel tanks.

ALNC or Conor Steel in Angelo makes tanks if you strike out down south.

You could check with long industries. They are in the Fairfield area. But I think they only offer new tanks/vessels

Lots of used equipment is listed in oilfield towns on craigslist and facebook marketplace.

FYI most common 500 bbl oilfield tanks are actually around 530 bbls if they're 15' 6" diameter.

750 bbl tanks at 15' 6" diameter are also available. They're around 25' tall. A new one will run you around $23,500 - $24,000 depending on the manufacturer and then you still need to move it and you'll need a crane to unload and set it. When comparing new and used equipment recently I didn't find a great bargain to be had for used equipment that wasn't exactly built for my purpose.
