HK MP5/SP5 trigger upgrade recs

Want to upgrade the factory trigger on my SP5. Looks like there is a Timney 2 stage drop in but it's got a couple of reviews with issues related to its reset, particularly when resetting gently to feel the reset versus coming completely off the trigger. Not sure if that's been addressed.

The other option is the Heckfire trigger from Shootingsight.com. Seems to have mostly good reviews, just not as well known brand (to me) as Timney.

They are both 2 stage, with the Heckfire having 5 pounds vs. 4 on the Timney.

Would probably lean towards the Timney but the reviews about reset issues have me a little concerned. Don't want to drop that kind of coin and have a trigger need to be manually pushed into reset.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks fellas.

Timney is the only one I've heard of, but no experience. I think either Bender or one of the other HK guys on here has the Timney and has good things to say about it.

There is also the Franklin Armory binary trigger option ($$$), which is what I'd love to have one of these days just for the fun factor.

That must be txyaloo or someone else, my triggers are all factory.

I have no experience with aftermarket triggers. Kind of like Glocks, I mostly resign myself to the "meh" of the trigger because in exchange I get really good reliability.

The 9holereview guys just did another MP5 video where they threw a Timney on one. My experiences tend to line up with most of what they say so if they like it it's probably a decent upgrade.

Following. Every trigger sucks now from the factory compared to my hunting rifles. The AP5 trigger wasn't the worst but it could use an upgrade if it exists and is affordable.

Just my opinion, but Compared to a nice hunting rifle, all handgun, pcc and even semi auto rifle triggers will always be a disappointment.

My AP5 trigger has smoothed up as its broken in. Give it a few thousand rounds and you might not even hate it.

And the stock MP5 trigger isnt bad, it just isn't good. I'm closing in on A class in steel challenge using a stock trigger AP5 and competing against gucci AR pccs in a game that is only about speed and accuracy. The trigger isnt whats holding me back yet.

I have lots of nice triggers. Just none in a MP5.

Agree! I still need to follow up with you on the AP5 stuff... I'll probably reach out here soon and once I get can approved but I need to talk sights regardless.
