There will be ways, for instance, a minuscule drop in the bucket:

As things green up around here I am probably long a couple semi loads of hay that I put up last summer and fall. When the network and the mechanizations for the relief effort get fired up in a few days - I'll get this headed to a distribution center.

I'm in at training class with some guys from Texas a&m forest service. One mentioned there was a fire in the panhandle yesterday afternoon. Didn't think too much of it as I hadn't seen anything on the news and I figured in a state the size of Texas there's probably always some wildland fire happening. Turns out this is a pretty big one. Everyday the forest service guys get an approximately 80 page updated document with available personnel and equipment in the various parts of the state. I knew they probably had something like this, but didn't realize it would be updated everyday.

Prayers going up. Lots of them. May God protect those folks and their livestock.

I'd try the Facebook pages or web sites of the Amarillo TV stations

They are undoubtedly busy, but they are still showing 40K acres estimated for the Smokehouse fire, which news reports are stating 500K acres. Seems they should put an intern or something in charge of their website to keep it current. ?

ETA: the page I was on was not updated but your link took me to a different spot which is more current.
Pretty sure most of you don’t know me.

I'm hearing 46 houses burned so far in Fritch. I look out my south facing window and see an orange glow on the SE horizon.
You could see the fire from 152 this morning. Pretty eerie to say the least. There were also small fires still burning between Stinnett and Borger as well.

Just talked with boys I work with in Shamrock. Shamrock rodeo grounds full of horses and cattle last night. Most horses have left this morning. Saying that 30 houses burned down in Canadian. Mainly on the west side of town.

If you could drive 28 miles due north, then 28 miles due east, 28 miles south, and 28 miles west back to your starting point, everything within that square would be about 500,000 acres.

If anyone remembers Brazos County from their A&M days, it's less than 385,000 acres

For comparison the XiT ranch was roughly 3,000,000 acres. The King Ranch was around 1,200,000 at its biggest.

We are hearing that our deer camp house burned up. Not a big deal compared to those that lost their residences , but still one to add to the list of casualties

Going to be a lot of fences, barns, telephone poles, etc. etc. etc to be replaced. Agree that your deer camp is minor compared to someone's home, but it's still going to cost someone money and time.

Lots of compressor engines out there. Hopefully they kept the pads clear and the fire goes around them.

I'm hearing there are 4-6 transmission lines that lost structures. Mostly 230, 115, and 69kV circuits that supply the northern areas distribution power. Xcel line crews have been tackling those damaged TLines.

Prayers for those linemen, subbies, and firefighters working to restore those communities affected.

If there are any wind or solar farms in the area, those are going to be some heavy-duty transmission lines

I was referring to "barbed wire", but I know you've seen transmission lines whip and spark above a big fire, and you know that happened, too.

Ooops, wrong wire. If the "bob" wire is on cedar posts, it's done for. On metal posts, depends on how hot the wire was for how long. Could allow the wire to stretch, could also bake off the galvanization.
