Got very excited at these when I saw them. As an owner of regular Ruger Americans, predators, Go Wild and Ranch versions, I am already in! All of the RA versions are shooters and not worried about banging them around the woods, what more could you ask for?!?!?!
As a reloader, 22ARC will be purchased the day it comes out and I'm sure more will be added to the safe.
Serious question, what is the point of the ARC calibers in a bolt gun? I thought they were made to run through AR platforms? Does it outperform the 22 Creed? Seems like after a new creed round comes out there is an ARC that follows in the same number. Admittedly, I haven't done a ton of research but my limited understanding was the ARC rounds were made to run through AR platforms, so pardon me for asking a most likely dumb question, just genuinely curious.
Great question that I'm sure someone could answer more "scientifically" than me, but here is my two cents for anyone that cares. Best thing the 22ARC or 6ARC has going for it against the creed is barrel life. Much higher barrel life out of the ARC cartridges due to the smaller cartridge. With that, much less powder for each round of the ARC, which just means more rounds to load before buying more, so less $$$$.
As far as why a bolt gun. I'm a bolt gun ho. I have AR platforms, but even for range time, grab bolt guns more often than not. I LOVE an AR pistol, but in a "rifle" my heart is warmer throwing a bolt back and forth. It's also more fun to shoot a bolt gun while suppressed in my opinion. You don't have the noise of the action cycling, that's a manual process with a bolt.
I own 223's in bolt guns, 300BO in bolts, and they are loads of fun to shoot.
I also find bolt action rifles to be far more accurate out of the budget to mid range lines when compared to AR's. Just my experience.
Long story short. Why not in a bolt gun? Ha! I love cycling a bolt I guess.
