not a vet but think dog will be ok with just one. Ours has eaten that before and still here.

No seeds. Seedless green grape. Reference point, he's a 5 month old 10lb beagle mix puppy.

Not a vet but I've heard hydrogen peroxide makes them throw up

It will. 1 1/2 tbls. walk them for about 10 minutes and it will foam up and they will disgorge everything in their gut.

did it just a few weeks ago when our mini goldendoodle ate a bunch of human medication.

Depends on the dog/grapes. One is probably fine but dogs can go into kidney failure with only a handful of grapes. Others eat a whole bag and have zero issues. Some people elect to monitor for anorexia and vomiting. Closer monitoring requires bloodwork.

If it is seedless you are fine, the hydrogen peroxide method works, but I rarely recommend it due to the caustic nature. But in a pinch it's effective.

Thanks everyone. Did the hydrogen peroxide and nothing happened. So to ease the wife and kids's nerves I took him to the vet. 2 shots and $165 later we should be good. I appreciate everyone's help!

If it wasn't for women and children, veterinarians would go broke!!!

We don't know the exact mechanism of action on grape toxicity, but the toxicity impacts renal function and can lead to kidney failure. There is some belief that it is the seeds (found in raisins as well) that are the toxic component. Bottom line is volume of grapes consumed is a large component of toxicity. One grape on 10 lb dog vs 10 grapes is a HUGE difference on level of concern. One grape in a 3-4 lb dog could be concerning. Ultimately, getting the dog to vomit up the grape is best medicine.

My daughter's lab ate an unknown quantity of mustang grapes when a fence blew down from a storm when she was still in CS. They induced vomiting and got some out, but weren't sure how many she had eaten so for 24 hours, she ate up all the attention at the vet school hospital.

Side note, I bought a big bag of birdseed at Costco and had been feeding the birds for a while when I finally looked closer and found out it had dried cherries and raisins in the seed. I picked through a lot of it, but our cocker is usually only interested in dining on dried cat ***** It's the fosters we house at times I have to worry about.

Had a bird dog many years ago that would go to where the muscadine grapes grew wild on our place. When they started falling off the vine, she'd taste them but not eat them until they fermented. Then she stayed drunk for a week or so.
Yeah, she was a wino.

Miss old Lady, she was a pretty good bird dog. Lived to the ripe old age of 11. Hunted until she was 10.

English Setter and we hunted quail back when there were coveys everywhere.

Years ago my Lab puppy drank mineral spirits out of a bowl used to clean a paint brush. He was stumbling around the back patio like he was drunk. I'm thinking he was probably just 2 months old. I called my vet (an old Ag, sadly now passed) and he recommended dumping really salty water down his throat until he vomited. It worked and he lived until I gave him away because he was crazy. Is the salt water still a recommended option in this scenario?

How come the coyotes down my lane can scarf up muscadines and cottontails and not be affected?
