Like most of you, I need another firearm like I need a hole in my head. For the longest time I have wanted a side by side. Do any of you have experience with the CZ Bobwhite 2? I am looking at getting one in 28 gauge. This would mainly be used for busting dove and quail. I am also looking at the Fair Isides, but they are roughly double the price. If the Bobwhite is a POS, I don't mind spending the extra money for better quality. I want something I can use and not be scared to get dirty and drug through the mesquite.

Several will prob have specific experience but I got a CZ OU 20 for my daughter and it's been super. I love shooting it.

I have a Tristar Bristol 28 gauge side by side and for the money it is a great gun. Fits me well. I have about 250 shells through it and it actually still a little too tight.

Skeet, pen raised quail and doves works perfectly and looks pretty good too!

Limited experience, but I traded guns for a dove hunt many years ago - it was a CZ in 16ga, I think it was a Bobwhite (or whatever the equivalent model in 16 ga is). SxS, new gun, etc.

I was pretty impressed. Tight lockup on action, shot well, looked pretty dang good to boot. Wasn't excessively heavy either. I think they have a black chrome finish, which is pretty durable - not the same as traditional blue, but definitely didn't look bad at all.

It's hard to go wrong with CZ for the most part.

I have a really cool old Savage double barreled 12 gauge from the late '40s, probably 26 inch barrels but I have never measured. I have never dove hunted with it but do take it skeet shooting about once a year. I am left handed and for whatever reason I have a lot of trouble hitting with the right barrel. left barrel is easy, right one not so much. I am not sure why.

This almost describes me to a tee, only difference is I'm wanting a bobwhite in a 20 gauge. Glad you asked the question. Trying really hard to resist.

Funny, I went through that same dilemma. I immediately dropped the Bobwhite out of contention because you can get a much nicer looking CZ Sharptail for not much more money. I ended up finding a near mint condition Rizzini Iside identical to this one so I decided it was worth it.

That said, I take good care of my things so i didn't mind spending a little more.. If you don't want to jump to the Rizzini, I don't think you can go wrong with the CZ, but I'd still upgrade to the Sharptail. You'd spend more on a nice dinner than the price difference between the Sharptail and Bobwhite

A friend has a Winchester 23 he got back in the mid 80s. It's real well balanced and points great. I've always wanted one like it but in 20.
No idea on the current prices but maybe you could find a good used one already broke in.

I am just not sure I like the pistol grip on the Sharptail. I need to go hold them.

I picked up a CZ Sharptail in 28 GA a few years ago because I wanted a 28 GA SxS to chase pheasants in South Dakota and western Kansas. Wanted something lighter and easier to carry than my 12 GA Citori.

Really like the Sharptail. The SxS shoots a little different than an O/U - no problem knocking down pheasants w the 28 GA.

I've been considering a SxS for several years and finally purchased one in August. I looked at and handled several makes and models of reasonably priced SxS shotguns.

I ended up getting a Browning BSS 12 gauge with 28" barrels, choked M/F. Browning made the BSS from about 1973-1987, which was before they started putting the Invector chokes in their shotguns. Mine was made in 1974, and it's in very good condition.

Prior to buying it, I looked into a CZ. After handling the Browning, the CZ shotguns felt heavy, bulky, and in all honesty, cheaply made. My investigation and research indicated CZ SxS shotguns have had issues in the past with trigger springs and firing pins. Take all of that for what it's worth, it's just one guy's opinion.

I was also impressed with the SKB brand SxS shotguns I looked at.

Granted, the Brownings start at about $1400 and go up much higher for 20 gauge and sidelock models, and are used, but they continue to increase in value. A CZ is probably only going to only hold or decrease in value.

There's a dealer at Spring Branch, Texas, called "Dawson's Doubles". He has a Browning BSS 12 gauge with 26" barrels that's choked IC/M. That gun is in excellent condition. He's asking $1695 for it. I almost purchased that gun, but found mine on Guns America for about $200 less than he was asking. https://dawsonsdoubles.com

BTW, my BSS shoots as good as it looks. I limited on dove opening morning with it and can't wait to pheasant hunt with it in South Dakota in November.

Good luck in your search.

If cz, get the sharp tail. I have and like the sharp-tail 20 ga that I have. It is fun. However, I really wanted their CZ SXS Hammer Classic. Could never find a new one.

If you can get double triggers, you will love it once you get the hang of them.

I am really leaning Isides at this point. I haven't seen any negatives on their stuff.

Bobwhites are pretty decent. If you want something a bit prettier, the Charles Daly Superior Grade are gorgeous for the price.

I ended up with a Tristar. Finally came in today. Love the feel of it. Time will tell if it's worth a darn. The wood was much nicer than I expected for the price.
