I've been considering a SxS for several years and finally purchased one in August. I looked at and handled several makes and models of reasonably priced SxS shotguns.
I ended up getting a Browning BSS 12 gauge with 28" barrels, choked M/F. Browning made the BSS from about 1973-1987, which was before they started putting the Invector chokes in their shotguns. Mine was made in 1974, and it's in very good condition.
Prior to buying it, I looked into a CZ. After handling the Browning, the CZ shotguns felt heavy, bulky, and in all honesty, cheaply made. My investigation and research indicated CZ SxS shotguns have had issues in the past with trigger springs and firing pins. Take all of that for what it's worth, it's just one guy's opinion.
I was also impressed with the SKB brand SxS shotguns I looked at.
Granted, the Brownings start at about $1400 and go up much higher for 20 gauge and sidelock models, and are used, but they continue to increase in value. A CZ is probably only going to only hold or decrease in value.
There's a dealer at Spring Branch, Texas, called "Dawson's Doubles". He has a Browning BSS 12 gauge with 26" barrels that's choked IC/M. That gun is in excellent condition. He's asking $1695 for it. I almost purchased that gun, but found mine on Guns America for about $200 less than he was asking.
https://dawsonsdoubles.com BTW, my BSS shoots as good as it looks. I limited on dove opening morning with it and can't wait to pheasant hunt with it in South Dakota in November.
Good luck in your search.
