Just got a quote for a 24kw system (air cooled Generac) with a 10 year extended warranty for $13,800. They're running about 20 feet of line for electric and 114 feet of gas line. I'm in The Woodlands area. Does this pricing seem reasonable?

That price sounds right.
You might want to check with your gas company first.
I'm in Conroe and we had a generator installed earlier this year. They had to run a new gas line to the other side of the house. After installation, when the gas company came to do the gas line tie in, the technician told us that the gas company would have come out and run a new line and installed a separate meter for us just for the generator. We did not know that was an option. The generator company did not tell us this.

It's a reasonable price

Crocker, we're technically in Conroe as well, but we're about a quarter mile from 242. Mind if I ask who you used? We're using Grasten.

Ark Generators. We were overall pleased with them.

I'm in Spring right south of the Woodlands and got a quote last week from Generator Supercenter off 249 for a 26kW for right at $13500. Their monthly maintenance service is $39 / mo FWIW.

What is the wait time on installation? I haven't pulled the trigger yet with GS but their paperwork says 6-8 weeks.

You can buy A LOT of first class tix to Cancun for 14k. And stay there awhile. Maybe look at a portable gen to keep the lights on overnight while you're packing.

That is a fair price for that install. Long gas run.

Yup, 4-6 weeks was what I was quoted.

With the gas line included I am shocked at how good of a price that is

If my gas line will be only 5 to 10 feet (already have outdoor nat-gas valve on patio), how much of that $13,800 quote from OP is expected to drop? Thanks!

I'm also looking for a 24kW Generac in Spring & started the quote process with Grasten. Has anyone used Blaze Generators? They claim to do quick installs within 14 days after quote -- with no upfront deposit. Sounds a bit shady, but their online reviews appear good. They never called me back, so I'll likely stick with Grasten.

They're charging me $15/ft for the gas line, but they give you the first 20 feet on the electric and the gas free of charge. I'm paying only for 94 feet of gas line and the generator will be right by my breaker box so I got the electric for free.

That price also includes a 10-year warranty they throw in that has a ~$1.050 value according to Grasten.

What won me over to Grasten was their reviews. They had over 1,000 reviews and scored a 4.9 rating out of 5. Further, when I spoke with them, they all seem very polite and professional. Seems to be a very well-run business. They were prompt and punctual when they showed up to my house as well. I'm probably just easily impressed, but their reviews are top notch, their pricing seems very fair, etc.

It's not that simple. And likely the gas line isn't big enough and doesn't have enough volume to use that line. I can almost guarantee this.

Power went out in our neighborhood a few weeks ago around 5:30 pm and did not come back on until around 3 the next afternoon. Actually, it was just my side of the street and the houses behind us. Neighbors across the street had power. My generator came on and we lived normally for the night while the neighbors slept in >80* lows.

Don't use it often, but damn I'm glad I have it.
