Our latest homeschool science focus has been on boats - buoyancy, density, displacement, etc. We've been testing toy boats.

Blue Wave Boats was kind enough to let us visit the factory and see the real thing. It was very interesting and a great way for Alex to see real world applications.

These boats are sweet!

If you want to do similar in Texas you can go to the Skeeter factory in Kilgore. They do tours
on Tuesdays and Thursdays and/or by appointment. Interesting as they build multi specie, center console, and performance bass boats at that facility. They build many of their components like seats, wiring harnesses, aluminum torque transfer systems, etc. all in house. They build between 10-15 boats a day, depending on back log, so should be plenty to see.
They also have a new state of the art trailer manufacturing plant of both aluminum and steel trailers for their boats, and a cool R&D department.
Very modern and state of the art plant and they have lots of cool historical displays of Skeeter history since they started building boats in 1948. They even have one of the very first Skeeters made on display.
I know they have arranged to have group and school tours in the past...., before Covid days.... pretty sure its back to normal now.
They have factory tour info on their web site last I looked.

I got to go through the Mastercraft factory. It was a very cool experience. Have a friend who works there.

Depending on your location you could reach out to Brian Little who owns Sabine Skiffs and is the designer of their boats. He's an engineer by schooling and has done the concrete canoe competition in college and has designed & built some outstanding skinny water skiffs.

Mowdy will also give you a tour. Robbie is a badass guy and super helpful and loves talking skiffs.
