Today was a down day - met with the attorney, and basically, as I figured, because of the state I am in, I have very few protections. I'm actually MUCH more concerned for the team that I built that is still there, I could protect them while I was in my role, now they really don't have anyone. I just hope that the casino realizes how good that staff is.

I had forgotten just how much I hated job searches, and especially at the current time. Other than my meeting yesterday, and a headhunter interview tomorrow for a CMO casino job in Phoenix (makes it hard to use the boat), no responses in the last 2 weeks.

And honestly, not enthused about the casino job, even though it would pay close to double what i was making, as I am severely burnt out with casinos at this point.

If anyone knows someone who needs a guy, I'm all ears!

I suffered the same fate as you 5 years ago from a company that i dedicated 24 years of my life to.

Good news, it does get much better and doors open that you never would imagine. In fact, one I traveled the path, I consider it as a blessing.

What would you like to do and what would be your optimum place of residence.

All I can say, is what a difference a day makes. You are absolutely correct that it can be a blessing.

In the course of the last 24 hours, I have had no fewer than a dozen opportunities pop up, and I have already inked a consulting deal with a law firm today to do a bunch of Marketing research for them. It isn't quite what I made at the casino, but if I end up with one more deal like that, I'd be right around the same place.

On top of that, I've got an opportunity to likely go in with one of the individuals that I talked about, where I would be the boss of a business venture that he wants to explore, and something that I would enjoy doing.

As for what I would like to do - I do love marketing, I got very tired of dealing with some of the people in gaming. I loved the customers (for the most part), and was surprised at how many have already reached out for me. I do enjoy large events, and using data to figure out how to reach new and different segments of customer. I've made a pretty good name for myself in these area in gaming. But I would love to branch out.

Of course, as you guys hopefully know by now, I enjoy the water, fishing, sports, etc. Die hard Aggie.

But man, I went from freaking out some yesterday, to actually feeling pretty good and comfortable for the immediate moment.

As for location, anywhere within a couple of hours of the Gulf Coast is ideal, but some coast for sure. I also feel much better today, healthwise, so the stress was definitely a factor.

I'm around. Prospects initially all included long, long moves. Phoenix, Seattle, Montreal, Canada. Was getting a little frustrated, as they are huge moves, but would be tough to move the boat. (Wouldn't sell it, but would need help from bother/dad/friends more).

Yesterday, I got a message from a guy I worked with over 20 years ago in Shreveport. The Belle of Baton Rouge needs a marketing director; we're talking this week. I don't know what their pay looks like - but either way, could be good, either as a permanent or transitional gig.

I also got a temp website started to do consulting that went live Friday. So, I at least have things moving. I am still have major gastrointestinal issues that the docs can't seem to figure out yet, so that part is awful.

Depending on when I meet with the guy from the Belle, I may take a drive down to the boat, I'm getting the starters tested tomorrow.

Sorry to hear you're still dealing with health issues. Prayers that gets solved soon. I'm sure the job will work itself out. Anyone who has the initiative to take on a project like this is going to get opportunities. You should be proud of the work you've done to date. Obviously havent posted in a while, and nothing has gone on with the boat project. Been doing a little consulting, and all of a sudden, a TON of interviewing (not complaining at all).

In the last week, I've had at least 6-7 interviews, one job offer so far, and am actually expecting 3 more tomorrow. I also expect an additional offer next week. One of the offers is in Seattle, 2 in Louisiana, and one wouldn't require a move, and one in Montreal. Every one but one seems as though it would also end up being a pay raise.

Add on to that, the fact that I was informed yesterday that my former place of employment is being investigated by the Feds, and it been a decent week.

Saw my endocrinologist, and she confirmed all my test results are good, and is altering some medication to see if that helps things. It's only been a couple of days, but it seems like it might be.

So, hopefully, once I figure out where I am going to end up, I can get back to the boat, it looks like that time will likely be soon. Anyway, just wanted to get y'all an update.

Man, I'm sure it's been stressful, but they may have done you a HUGE favor!

I decided a few weeks ago that they did me a big favor - the amount of stress I was dealing with was seriously unhealthy.

But from what I'm understanding, there could be a few people (who were my direct bosses) that could be in a whole lot of trouble.

My opportunity in Louisiana fell through, and I am currently on my way to Montreal this week, Seattle next week, and North Carolina the week after for job interviews. I actually already have offers at Montreal and Seattle, but need to check them both out. North Carolina would be a general manager job and a huge career move, and I am one of three finalists for that one.

So, unfortunately, the project remains on indefinite hold. So, any help making sure she's not sinking will be appreciated for a while!

I was able to make enough time to get the starters tested today, and discovered the following:

1 starter was fine, with a bad solenoid
1 starter was toast
I can get a remanufactured starter for a quarter of what I thought, with a warranty.

Ordered a solenoid, will replace that on the 1st starter and see what I can do.

In Seattle til Sunday this week, starting tomorrow, and likely North Carolina next week. New entrants into the job hunt are Omaha and Tulsa, I am in final interviews with both along with North Carolina.

So, looks like maybe the unemployment is coming to an end here in the near future, and maybe I can actually hear the boat start up.
