That and checking injectors since it has been sitting a bit.

Transmission oil is a touch high on one side, a touch low on the other, that's what I'm doing now.

The nerves are now real. Ha!
Stand on the other side of the boat.

I'm not sure which is more nerve-racking. Waiting for an update from this thread or the Aggies tonight in the World Series.

Let's put it this way. I feel like I'm down 5 in the bottom of the 8th. Everything assembled, and engines will not crank. At all. Power to starters, one click each time we try to start and nothing. Batteries at 14 volts and new. Working on the starter on port engine to see if that is the problem. Trying hard not to get rattled.

Will update again later tonight.

Having made it this far, I have no doubt you'll find a solution.

You have much more faith than I do, at this point. Ha! Now I've discovered that for some reason, the one bolt that is nearly impossible to get to that is keeping the starter on the engine is a different size than the other 2 bolts used for the same purpose.

Grrr....

And bad news. The Inconseavable will not be running this weekend.

After troubleshooting the problem, we identified the starter as being the likely culprit - ON BOTH ENGINES.

We bypassed the solenoid and were able to get the starter to function, but not engage, so we couldn't get the engine to turn over. We then pulled the starter from the port side, and tested the solenoid (there are 2 on this starter, as it turns out), and the solenoid is dead. Then we tested the other and it was also dead.

It was my bad, I let them sit far too long and they appear to be frozen. So, I threw them in my truck, and will take them home to work on them.

The positive is that everything else is now assembled on the transmission and engines, and I avoided any damage from the storm/ storm surges. I am including some photos of that.

My parents came down; my dad was helping, my mom just wanted to see the area and visit. We got to go to Port A and saw some great sportfishers, and in one of the pictures, with the bows of the boats, you can see another Post.

I did get quite a bit done, unfortunately not as much as I would have liked. I would have really liked to have started her up, and tested the transmission, but it was apparently not to be. Tomorrow I will be basically tidying up everything I can, and getting back fairly early - I have an early day at the dentist on Monday.

Lessons learned, and maybe next time she starts up.

Thanks all, for the support, it helps on frustrating days like today.

And now, to top it off, both AC units in the boat decided to stop working.

So tomorrow, I will look at those, and see if I can find a quick issue with them before I come down next time. A hotel room for me, as the master cabin was showing a temp of 92. Thankfully I was able to snag a last minute hotel room.

No. No no no. This is not how this was supposed to go.

The one silver lining in all this, as I choose to believe is this - when something bad happens, something good usually follows. So now, I'm looking for an Aggie win today to close it out.

Then I'll get home, and get to work on the starters to install on the next trip. Thankfully, they are not hard to install, compared to a lot of the other parts I've had to put on.

But no, this is not how it was supposed to happen.

Have you been able to check the fuel to ensure it's 'fresh' enough and free of water, contaminants, etc??
How about fuel filters? Put new ones in if possible and make sure lines are not clogged.
There are moments I wish this was my project!!
Good Luck!!!!!
Agfencer98

Yes, checked all that, just did not expect the starters to both be bad. Frustrating, but my own darn fault.

I continue to learn on every trip to the boat.

Howdy.

Sorry for lack of updates. For the last three weeks I have been acting GM for the casino, so I haven't been down to the boat. I'm done with that responsibility tomorrow, but have a concert on Saturday. Hopefully the weekend after that I can get down there and try to get her going again.

Oh look at me! I run the casino and take all your money instead of getting you quality boat content!

Show off!!!

That's right!

As far as the concert, it's our Crossroads Festival - 10 hours of cajun, swamp pop and zydeco.

Right now, over 3100 tickets out.

Wait, you've hand rebuilt a vintage boat on the weekends… and you also run a casino?!?

What other crazy abilities do you have?

Well, at one point, I like to think that I was a pretty darn good fencer. Beyond that, I've been called a jack of all trades.

As for the boat, I managed to catch some virus that I've been fighting for the last week (and still am). I'm hoping to get down to the boat soon, but I really gotta beat this thing first, it's kept me out of work a couple of days, and I rarely miss work due to illness. Good news is I am starting to feel better now.

I'll let y'all know when I'm planning to go down to the boat next as soon as I know.

Thank you. Not sure what this particular bug is, other than not Flu or Covid, but it's been a beast.

Where in the casino biz did you start? Please tell me you were a dealer at a craps table at one point.

Nothing quite so interesting. I started at Harrah's in Shreveport about 24 years ago. I have always been in the marketing department, though I have also been interim food and beverage director 3 different times - once at Isle of Capri Lake Charles and twice at Coushatta, where I am now. I have also been the interim General Manager of a couple of casinos (in OK). I have also worked on Mississippi, Atlantic City and Vegas.

I enjoy the marketing side of things though, especially the database side of things.

I occasionally play craps, though!

I remember this thread when it first popped up and followed it for a while, but somehow lost the bookmark and forgot about it. It came up yesterday and I just finished getting caught up.
Congrats on getting so much accomplished to the point you're trying to get it cranked up. It was fun to reread what has gone on and catch up with the new developments.
Thanks for sharing the journey with us, and like the rest of us, I'm anxiously awaiting the report of a successful startup.

Well, I did spend 2 years working for Choctaw before joining Coushatta. So... it is possible it's a product of Marketing programs I put in place.
