on a Saturday afternoon. Felt like I was driving a wheelchair on a freeway. Keep your head on a swivel.

I once did 8 miles or so around lake Jacksonville on a warm late spring weekend afternoon. I know exactly what you mean.

You should try Lake Austin from Quinlan to the Pennybacker on a Saturday morning.

This was a pedal kayak, and I was pretty exhausted by the end. Almost 7 hours of pedaling. I stopped a couple of times to fish at the large bridge pillars, but got no action. It was only the next day, or the day after, that I followed the recommendation of Ned rig, and I was pulling them in right and left, just next to the house.

Hey. If I can ever help we build fishing boats that have engines and can go 75+ mph. You can cover all that ground in little time and spend some RR time enjoying some adult beverages in the A/C with a good looking lady. .

I kid .... I kid.

I mainly float creeks and rivers. While fishing, I'm usually taking 45 minutes to over an hour to cover a mile. I should look into a pedal drive for when on lakes. What is your setup?

Ned rigs are great for bass fishing. Ned rig in PB&J is my go-to lure.

I have an older Hobie Outback with the v2 Mirage drive (no 180 or kick-up). I think the average person would have a hard time going as fast and as far as I did given that I am a pretty fast cyclist of many years. Not bragging, just saying that I'm not the average pedaler.

I find that the Outback as far as hull design feels quite slow. I have a Perception Pescador 12ft, no pedal of course and no rudder, it seems MUCH faster despite being the same length.

With the Outback you trade speed for stability.

Also there are a lot of electronic propulsion options that can be retrofitted onto kayaks. I'm not planning to do this, but it sure looks fun and interesting.

My next 2 projects are:
1. anchor trolley line
2. fish finder

I'd love to have a bass boat. Along with all the other wonderfully expensive things in life that many others have. I'm in a kayak for a reason!

No. It was just a spur of the moment vacation decision. Having been there once now, I think I would prefer beavers Bend to hot springs. Since it's so much closer.

However maybe someday I will try the White River and drift boat fishing. That sounds fun. I like fishing for trout.

While out on the MS River yesterday, I saw 2 kayakers paddling downriver. And this is a part of the river with alot of frequent barge traffic. Scratched my head on that one,
Hamilton has way too much boater traffic + a high percentage drunks for me. There are lots of other great spots for kayaking without the boat traffic. Try putting in the river below Remmel Dam
