2 of my kids are going to summer scout camp for the first time and need cots. I'm prioritizing light and easy to assemble over comfort. Any recommendations before I Amazon roulette one?

For comfort, I'll be on my Teton XL, which is neither light nor easy to assemble.

TIA

A cheap auto inflating bed pad will make most any cot sleep worthy for a kid.

Coleman makes an easy fold in half one that works well for summer camp.

Outdoor reply = Helinox Cot One High

My son used the KingCamp Cots Ultralight Sleeping Cots for Scout camp last year, and continues to use it during our monthly camping trips as it fits the 2 person tent well.

I use a KingCamp version similar to the linked with additional legs to raise it higher off the ground while helping at the Scout camp, and use it for the monthly campouts when I go without the legs.

Had several kids get the Coleman Trailhead II Cot and a few had difficulty putting them together correctly.

We also use a sleeping pad on the cots. Not necessary, but nice to have.

Our Troop strongly recommends the "ROLL-A-COT"

They are expensive, but both of my boys have one and reported they they like them.

A warning on the Coleman folding. Step 5 in the set-up pic of link below is a huge understatement. Those crossbars will eat your lunch after unloading trailers in the heat. Most kids don't put them in and they get lost.

Agreed. I bought two of these for me and my son for our first camp. My son can get it together, but at 14 still often needs help to get it apart. I just push with my foot after it's been slept on.

I love the cot and your troop will likely have others with a similar cot who can help, but it's not the easiest for a kid. It's very tight and comfortable, though!

We would always stand those cots up vertically and use our foot to pull the lower bars, helped some.
