Structural Tubing Trucker Contact?

Occasionally we will get a full trailer load (~45k lbs) of structural (used oilfield) tubing to use for Ag purposes in the Central Texas area. Recently, our regular local independent trucker has not been coming through due to various reasons/excuses. This is one off work, maybe 1-2 times a quarter. Does anyone have a (non-broker) independent trucker (with 45k lb trailer) that will move tubing that they recommend?

My uncle has a small trucking company in the Permian. He hauls pipe for Oxy & lots of other operators around the Seminole/Andrews/Hobbs area. But he does all sorts of other stuff with his trucks as well, so he is always looking to put some trucks to work.

There is an occasional load coming out of WTX, but more the closer to CenTex area. Either way, do you mind DMing me his contact?

I've used Straight Shooter transport or if Magnolia. I typically need a 53ft dry van moved, but they also have flat beds available.

I'm sorry, I guess I misread your post, I thought you were looking to source some oilfield pipe to have it brought in to the Central Tx area and needed someone to haul it.

The market is tight, so sourcing some would be good too. I am still interested in talking with him.

I own a small oilfield trucking company in Houston.

I have a flat bed semi that can handle that weight, but those trucks are usually booked in this market. However, if you have some flexibility in pick up/delivery schedule, we can probably accommodate you.

Eight 3 2 two eight two 533 five.

Happy to help you if I can, and if I can't I will try to refer you to somebody

Where in central Texas? I've got a guy in Brownwood that is capable and may be interested.

Have you found the pipe and just need a hauler or do you need both pipe and hauler?

If you need both, just call pipe yards (Patriot, SIW, KC Pipe, Flake Tompkins, and Sooner are a few examples) in the Midland area and tell them you want a truckload of red band/structural tubing (2 3/8" or 2 7/8" are the common sizes with 3 1/2" being a little harder to find). They should have plenty of trucking contacts.

Most new oilfield pipe comes out of the Houston area, so pipe haulers are usually empty from Midland area to Houston and full on the return trip.

I mostly need a trucker (and trailer) to move the pipe.

I have not used them in a while, but Central Pony Express used to have a large fleet and could help.

I also worked with 2-C equipment in Jarrell. They were always great to work with. Call and see if they do outside hauling. If not, they probably know who does.

Thanks Treble. Not to derail my own thread, while I am always looking for structural tubing, my issue recently has been a transport issue not a supply issue.

Should be relatively easy to find a truck to deliver a full truckload of steel.

What's the going rate for a truckload of pipe like this now?

You have time to apply lube before response comes in.

The places that have any in stock are going to be $2.50/ft+, so for 2-7/8" production tubing (45k trailer) is going to be over $14k.
