I am having a crawfish boil this weekend, in your expert opinion, are there better places for quality and pricing to purchase live crawfish vs. just going to HEB?

Send me recommendations if you have a hook up.

Also interested in methods and recipes you have a go to crowd pleaser.

Go to 2coolfishing and search... Lots of sources all over houston... HEB would be the last place I would go

I found a place in Austin that brings them in fresh in sacks and been pleased. Also found that only real advantage at HEB is picking around the dead ones, but even that's not guaranteed once home and boiling.

My dad always drove from Katy to Emery's Seafood in Seabrook the morning of our boil to load up his coolers with crawfish while us kids set up the tables and trash cans in the driveway. Quality were always better than H-E-B according to him. We'd still purge in coolers once they got to the house up until they went into the pot.

He used to be at the corner of I-10 and 1463, but he lost the lease so he's out on Logenbaugh Road West of Katy-Hockley, past the juvenile center.

I buy his seasoning too. He sells boiled crawfish on the weekends out there and its BYOB. Has a redneck vibe.
