I'm dealing with the city of Georgetown and the ever increasing storm water permit requirements they are now requiring for me to add an addition on my business located in the ETJ. Any Civil Engineer Ags near Georgetown with experience working with the city? Any suggestions on civil engineers?

The requirements have gotten a tad out of hand.

Thanks!

Are they telling you to add retention for the increased impervious surface area?

The retention pond may be the most ridiculous requirement ever.
NO AMNESTY!

in order for democrats, liberals, progressives et al to continue their illogical belief systems they have to pretend not to know a lot of things; by pretending "not to know" there is no guilt, no actual connection to conscience. Denial of truth allows easier trespass.

I think my biggest issue with this storm water permitting is the lack of response from the city engineers. I waited 3 months for a email reply. The office where they used to allow you to drop in with questions is closed and they moved to a location you aren't allowed to visit. So if they ignore you well you just wait. The indifference from the city office to its' citizens is pathetic.

At one of my former companies, they bought some commercial property in Stafford with the intent of building an office so they could eventually terminate the lease and expand.

But the City required so much of the property to be converted to a retention pond based on the square footage of the building that there would not have been room for much else outside of some parking. Either that or they would have had to build a cistern for the retention under the parking lot. So they sold the land and still lease the same building.

I get the concept behind having a stormwater retention area, but sometimes the application is just dumb.

I would be hammering on city council - up and to the point of going to a council meeting to bring up the issue and have it on public record. Because F that nonsense - the city works for you, not the other way around.

My former neighbor had a solution that worked well. He just diverted it to my land then threw a fit when I complained.

Found out today I don't even need a storm water permit. I don't have much faith in the city of Georgetown at this point. So much power should not be given to unelected officials with an axe to grind on small business.

That's good, right?
