I thought there would be more younger folks on here.

Where do people in their 20s go for info or discussions and do they value interacting with other Aggies?

I prefer learning from other Aggies and therefore avoid sites like Reddit. I also value anonymity and privacy so I avoid most social media platforms for questions or discussions.

I only found out about this board about 3 years ago and lurked for over two years before deciding to create a profile and start posting and I'm 40 now. I'm staunchly anti-social media, and I consider the OB a gray area. I bet a lot of younger outdoor ags either aren't aware or are like I used to be.

Dying breed is the worst case scenario - meaning lots of younger ags aren't OB people.

This seems pretty accurate. I think quite a few folks lurk on here for a very long time before posting. I did for a long time…

It's also a little intimidating for folks when you have so many inside jokes and references to other posters that no one knows what the heck is going on. We also have some pretty polarizing views on things, i.e., high fences.

I have always enjoyed this board and the people that are on it. I have found it more difficult to be on here as frequently since I am busier at work and with kids… I imagine some of the original posters fell into that problem, in addition to their opinions of the board "changing".

I'm 29 and this is correct. Most my age spend time on the platforms that you mentioned. Some of my closest friends I grew up with have stopped hunting all together. I don't have a Reddit, TikTok (Chinese-owned with questions practices), or twitter. I use this board for a lot of outdoor information. I get more here than anywhere else. It's sad to see that love of the outdoors is dying with young people. Luckily my wife and I have not lost any love for the outdoors. I grew up in the Houston area in a neighborhood and she grew up in south Texas where the closest neighbor to her childhood home is now her sister who lives two miles away as a crow flies. We live in a small east Texas town now but even most of our friends here prefer to never leave a neighborhood. They don't like hiking, camping, hunting, or fishing. It's saddening to think about. I'm definitely the outcast of the group but it is what it is. It's so important to raise your kids around the outdoors. My parents luckily did. You can live in a neighborhood but you need to get out and see the outdoors. It's vital for kids these days. And I think many my age are raising their kids without much love for the outdoors. I do realize that I likely seem older than I am. I still yell at rain clouds when they skirt around the fence perimeter at the ranch.

Preach. I am the same way, have some friends who hunt and fish but being in our early 30's is tough with families and kiddos. No one seems to have time, so I'm just gonna pick dates and we are gonna see who can and can't go. No one wants to be outside, and I'm a weirdo for drinking out of the hose still. It's a weird world. Parents are on the outskirts of Longview and boy how do I envy them.

I lived outdoors, had to be outside when the sun came up and back when it was down. Rode bikes, fished, climbed trees, etc. the state of GA was an amazing playground.
