What happens if you lose the little plug in thingy?
You either uninstall it or wait for a new $75 key to show up after you mail in a request with proof.agracer said:

I wonder if insurance companies give further discounts if this is installed
You get a spare plug with the installation. So you would have to lose 2 before calling for a replacement.agracer said:

Thanks a bunch... anyone in Marble Falls, Burnet area get installed? Just looking for options if they balk at coming back to F-Burg. Thanks,f burg ag said:
It was the Houston branch. I can't remember the names of the young men that installed, but the owner came out both times to make sure they where taking care of business.
Unless the plug is in the dash, yes.RightWingConspirator said:
Does putting in a Ravelco basically make the vehicle remote start worthless?
Sorry, I just realized you thought I lived in F Burg. That is were I am from, but I live in Houston now.DOG XO 84 said:Thanks a bunch... anyone in Marble Falls, Burnet area get installed? Just looking for options if they balk at coming back to F-Burg. Thanks,f burg ag said:

Tell me you've never had a truck stolen, without telling me you've never had a truck stolen. It was a huge PITA, took a pretty big loss on it, and the replacement was a giant POS. I wouldn't wish it on anyone that I didn't despise greatly.Howdy Dammit said:
Guess I'm the only one who actually wants my truck stolen so I can take the insurance money and have a good excuse to my wife for getting a new truck.

Company out of Houston will meet me in Waller to install this thing for $700. I'm good with motorhead casual billing, but now that the guy wants me to write him a personal check made out to his name, and the fact that the install pic looks like its going to get knocked off, I'm having second thoughts.
Maybe I'll take my chances taking my truck to STX hunting in a couple weeks. It will be parked at the ranch and we don't plan on driving into town.
What say you OB?

I had one installed a few months ago on a Tahoe it took me a few months to find .. if you called the main Revelco site then the guy they sending is ligit .. only trained techs know how to install those .. I have mixed feelings about mine .. 100 % works, they aren't taking your vehicle. However, if you don't have the plug in and try to start it, it's messes up the computer and you have to open the hood and disconnect the battery and then reconnect it .. it will go into reduced power mode .. I guess just leave it plugged in sometimes like I do .. however then someone could steal it with the revelco key In
Just saw this and your last post, thanks for the assist.....f burg ag said:
Agree with this. Tried to start sans plug a few times on both trucks.....never had an issue after the plug was put in. After a couple of times, it does become second nature to remember the plug.
Not sure about your type of car, but the new 2023 Tahoes if you start it without the revelco plug in, it will start, but every time you start it without the plug in it sends more codes to the computer, if you keep doing this its Fs up the entire computer system, believe me Ive done it. I started it like 6 -7 times without the plug and then without unhooking the battery, I then unhooked the battery and it would not fix the computer problem. I called Revelco and they told me to take it to the Chevy dealership... It ended up screwing with the main computer so bad that it ruined an injector because the car was running in "limp mode" or "reduced speed" mode for about 1-2 weeks.. anyway, the car is 4 months old, the dealership said he would cover the injector under the warranty this time but If I brought it back in again, I was paying out of pocket. Believe me, I do not start the car without the plug anymore, and if I do forget the plug, I open the hood and unhook the battery immediately now and its resets the main Tahoe computer.... Revelco says this is not a "revelco probelm" however, it really is because starting that car without the plug multiple times in a row messes up the main computer and then driving in limp mode further Fs up things like injectors.... Been there done that ... I have mixed feelings about the revelco, but if you just leave plug in nothing like this will happen. I almost had them come remove the Revelco.. the guys in Jersey or wherever they are weren't too happy.mhnatt said:fullback44 said:

This is not quite accurate. Not sure what kind of vehicle you have, but wife and I have a 3500 RAM and a Wagoneer (both 2022 models) and have accidentally tried to start them on multiple occasions without the plug in. No biggie. Just inserted the plug and the vehicle started right up fine. Sounds like your installer messed up or your particular vehicle is picky.
As far as what to do if losing both plugs (geeze - even your backup??), all you have to do is contact Ravelco and they will
Overnight a replacement (for a fee of course) based on your code number found on the card that the technician gives you when he's done installing.
Or did you lose both the original, and spare, and the code card, and forgot to take a pic of the card?

It's not a Revelco problem. It's a user problem.
