Blood Meridian is a great book but it just wore me out psychologically. I don't regret reading it but it's a tough book.

Lots of good recommendations here, highly recommend the entire Lonesome Dove series (Comanche Moon is my favorite as well, but the OG Lonesome Dove is an all time classic)

Empire of the Summer Moon by SC Gwynne is a great read as well, about the history of the Comanches.

I just downloaded empire of the summer moon. Wow! 20 pages in and I am hooked. This is fascinating!
