My grandmother was a twin with my great aunt and they're buried right next to each other out in west Texas. Coincidentally, they were obsessed with hummingbirds, a trait my mother inherited. My mom routinely goes and visits them and will clean up the gravesites and put out seasonal flowers. On one such particular trip, as she finished with the flowers and chatting with her mom and aunt, two hummingbirds flew up, hovered in front of her for a moment while looking at her, and flew off.

I grew up in a religious household, and as I've gotten older my faith has waned and waxed. I don't necessarily believe in ghost or paranormal, but you cannot tell me this universe isn't somehow all connected with a higher power guiding things.

Here is one from my wife's family. Their grandmother passed away in small town North Carolina. Their entire family drives to the funeral from Texas. As we all know it's seen an insult to get a motel, so everyone stays in grandmother's small house. The adult daughters stay in a bedroom with two twin beds.

As night falls and they are in the twin beds about to fall asleep. My wife feels a comforting hand on her shoulder. Thinking it's her sister, she turns over. To her surprise no one was there. Her sister is facing away. She really isn't scared, more of a calm feeling.

The next morning at breakfast she tells her sister what happened. Wouldn't you know the same thing happened to her as well. Just grandma making sure they are ok and saying good night, just as she did when they were kids.

I am always iffy as I generally think there is a logical explaation for most things.

But then there are those few things here and there that logic doesnt explain.

I spent 10 minutes looking through the ditches on Bird Pond road one night for what I thought was a lady walking alone in a very rural part of the road by herself. I am 100% sure i saw her, but when i pulled over..nothing. Eerily quiet, to the point i started getting spooked. No wind, no crickets, no other noises of the night. I cannot explain any of it, and apparently others have seen her also. I have no idea what the story is on her either.

Who knows? Sometimes i convince myself its all hokey, other times i wonder if a soul can get lost between this world and the next.

Back as a kid my dad's house I swore was haunted. I never saw anything but the toilet in the master bathroom would flush by itself all the time and one time the shower turned on by itself for like 10secs.

Then back in the early 2000s when i was living in washington state some friends and I were on a ghost hunting kick and were trying the recorder method. We found this cemetery way down this back road and was pretty old. We were standing around a couple of graves one night with the recorder asking if anyone was there, can you talk to us etc etc. If I remember it correctly it was a families plot from the 20s or 30s and had a couple real young kids. When we got home and were playing it back and heard a little girls voice through the static saying "where is he?" as well as a guy's voice a little later saying "gotta go"

We went out to that cemetery often and it just had a spooky feeling like I haven't felt before. But since I moved back to Texas I haven't seen or experienced anything anywhere so my skepticism is strong. Although I'd like to think ghosts are real and I'd definitely never turn down a stay in legit haunted house, I just feel there could be explanations.

When my grandfather passed away (suddenly and traumatically) my mom went and stayed with my grandmother for awhile so she wasn't alone and they could support each other through the grieving process. One particularly hard night my mom was crying as she lay in bed and felt someone put a big hand on her shoulder. She swears up and down it was her dad and after that moment began to move on and except his death knowing he was ok.

A few years ago, we were at the funeral of our beloved uncle, who passed away suddenly. Near the end of the funeral, after a particular song he absolutely loved had ended, there was a big whoosh of air that went out the back of the sanctuary room and pushed the door to the funeral home wide open. Kinda like when you have a door that isn't closed all the way suddenly open when another door in the house or room opens pushing volume, only this was a big rush of air. The funeral home director and my mom were both excited, and exclaimed that was my uncle leaving the room. And there were no other doors that would create a vacuum or push air, and the A/C for sure didn't do it. The director said he had never seen that happen before in the 40 years he owned the business.

It was a young kid. We were outside at a ranch sitting around a fire. There is an old house there and the kid kind of glided right near the house. Like he was just walking toward it. Everything about him was very visible except his legs which is why I say he 'glided'.
He was kind of see through. He didn't look over at us. Just kind of crossed from one side of the road to the other toward the house. Maybe 15 yards from us.
It caught my eye. I looked up and as I'm watching him trying to comprehend, the dog lying beside me sat up and stared right at it. Right then my brother in law and I looked at each other and before I could say anything he asked "did you just see that?"

Don't know for sure if it was a spacecraft/UFO, of course, but coming back from moving in for a fall semester at A&M for a couple days (back in the 80's), me and a buddy were driving down 77 between Hallettsville and Victoria and we saw a light out the passenger side of the Jeep window. It seemed to be several hundred yards away, but moving with us, ahead of us, trailing us, and back. He was like WTH, and I told him it had to be something from inside reflecting on the glass. So, he rolled down the window and it was there. For several miles with the same movement. A pretty large light being cast off of it. Then, all of a sudden, it slows and rises quickly into the night sky away and out of sight.

Definitely one of, if not the most, unexplained thing I've ever seen. My buddy who could have corroborated as we revisited this a few times over the years, passed away in a drowning accident a few years ago.

Edit to add:

I am a Christian, so I believe in the Bible's teachings and stories. The Bible is a story of sorts revolving around man's interaction with God here on this earth he created. God is all powerful, and as he tested man's faith in him, who is to say he did not do this elsewhere in the Universe(s). Maybe, before ours. We don't know, but if we think we are the only intelligent life out there (which there may not be), we are damned arrogant to think so.

I've experienced a "shadow person" once. In a really crappy duplex in Waco. My duplex neighbor was an old man and he had night terrors there as well. It was a pretty creepy place.

I woke up to the shadow of a man at the foot of my bed. It was so real I jumped at it and tried to attack the intruder only to hit nothing. If I had owned a gun at the time I'm sure I would have shot a couple holes in the wall.

I've also seen a UFO/UAP whatever they are calling it now. This was when I was maybe 10 or 12 years old. We lived out in the country and I would sleep on our deck a lot in nice weather. This particular night there was a flashing in the sky that I could see through binoculars. It looked like the old "Simon" game with the colored edges. But it was flipping and rolling around like crazy. It stayed stationary in the sky for a long time. Maybe 30 minutes, then just zipped from near one horizon to the other horizon in about 10 seconds.

A while back I saw a reddit post that showed pretty much exactly the same thing. Although I saw it much clearer than this video shows, you get the idea....

One more… and I need you odds guys to help me with the math…

My mom died almost 8 years ago. I kept her picture and phone number in my iPhone shortcuts. Every time she called her picture popped up. I just couldn't bring myself to delete it after she passed. My mom was very close to my kids and wouldn't miss anything. About 4 years after she passed my wife and I took our son to his first middle school dance. As we sat in the car my phone rang and my moms picture popped with her number. I freaked out but I answered. There was a lady on the other line and said I'm sorry I misdialed and hung up. I immediately called back (it was my moms old number) and asked if she maybe bought a used phone and my number was still in it. She said no. She had new service set up that day with a new phone. That number was assigned to her by Sprint…my mom's old number with ATT. I explained this was my moms old number she had and got chills that she misdialed me, in a city of 6 million people. She teared up. I then called my dad. He said right after my mom died he cancelled her service and number and threw the old phone in a drawer.

Ok…How did this woman misdial ME with my moms old number? You know how many people there are in the Houston area that she could have misdialed but got me? What are the odds?

My mom passed 2 months ago so this is still very fresh in all our memories. She was only 64 so there is a lot of family (parent, kids, grandkids) who will miss her.

She had Parkinson's with Lewy body dementia so for the last couple years even when she was living I don't know if I'd say she was "here".

Anyway, towards the end, my sisters and I basically camped out at my parents house sleeping on couches, etc.. so that we could be there with our mom in her final days. The night before she passed my sister had gone home to dripping springs(we're in NB) to get things ready for her daughters first day of kindergarten and to be able to take her to school.

That last night I was sleeping on the couch outside my moms bedroom and woke up to a woman singing. Thinking it was my aunt who was there taking care of my mom I got up and went into her room but there was nothing there and my mom and aunt were sound asleep.

At my sisters house in DS, her daughter started hollering out for my sister and her husband early in the morning. When my BIL went to investigate she told him that she heard someone rustling around in their laundry room outside her door though nobody was there.

At my grandpas(moms stepdad who she was very close to) in Johnson City he woke up because something banged into his window twice which is right next to his side of the bed.

Moms brother and his wife who are also here in NB both woke up and got dressed for no reason. Alarm hadn't gone off, they hadn't planned on getting up early, had no where to go. They just felt the need to wake up and get dressed.

Mom passed around :10 after 5 in the morning. All these things happened at that same time and everyone consciously noted what time it was.

My grandfather was a Baptist missionary/preacher and he would fill in for vacationing pastors in TX and LA. He actually started one of the (now) larger Baptist churches in Lafayette back in the late 60s.

He would always take his 2 boys with him when he traveled and they would always run off and play in the ditches, railroads, trees, etc. They were never scared of anything and he wouldn't see them for hours.

However, whenever he filled in at a place in Milton, LA, his boys never left his side. They would rather sit there for hours bored than go explore. They all felt something there and they left town as soon as whatever he was asked to do was over. I tried to get details but all I could every get out of them was an extreme dark feeling washed over them when they entered the town. Whatever it was did not want them there.

My future father in law had an 11 month battle with cancer. He was a firefighter and wanted the traditional bagpipe amazing grace played at his funeral (planned long before he was diagnosed). On the day he passed, my girlfriend (now wife) and the family were gathered around his bed waiting for the last breath. There was Christian radio playing softly in the room. We had been sitting around him all night. Then amazing grace came on the radio and he took his last breath at the end of the song. Not necessarily "ghost" related. But definitely divine intervention. He got his bagpipe version a few days later.

No ghosts, but plenty of things I can't explain.

My wife and I had a prophetic dream that was clear as day that came true exactly as the dream stated. What was weird is that we had the dream on the same night, but in two different parts. Hers was the prophetic dream. My dream was that an angel was the one talking to my wife.

When I was in 8th grade, I caught my Dad's kitchen on fire. I had the hardest time getting it out, because I couldn't find the fire extinguisher, which had been moved. When I finally did get it out, my father called from work immediately on the house land line. He asked if everything was OK. I asked him why he asked. He said he just felt like something terrible had just happened. I then admitted to the fire.

My Mom told me my Dad called the hospital in the middle of the night where my grandfather was within minutes of him passing.

Me, my Dad, and my Grandad just have some kind of psychic connection when it comes to strongly negative emotions.

A few other spiritual things, but I will leave those out.
I have lots of prophetic dreams.

Some are very symbolic. Had a dream that my best friend was stuck in his truck in the middle of field and that he was in great trouble. Not physical danger but in an extremely bad place. He was desperately trying to move at first by driving then by walking but couldn't leave the field. I hadn't talked to him at that point in a few months. I called him that morning first thing, because the dream was so disturbing. He told me he was getting divorced and that he was losing his son. All out of the blue so to speak as I didn't know he was having marital problems. Now maybe the previous times I spoke with him I picked up on something odd and this was a coincidence. But the strangest thing was that the day before the dream several major events related to the divorce and kid had taken place…..

Most of the time my "prophetic" dreams are mundane. An example would be a dream about meeting a new customer at work for the first time in a new place in the dream, then having it happen a few days later. Easy to write off for sure, but it always gives me a weird sensation when it happens.

And not the same but sometimes synchronicity happens. Recently while driving to the office I had a coworker pop to mind. Someone I haven't seen or thought about in roughly five years. I walk into my office and the stack of unsorted business cards on my desk has been knocked over, most likely by the cleaning staff the night before. A single card is in my chair, the rest are on the floor. The card in the chair is the coworker mentioned above. Maybe a minute later I get a Teams call(zoom if you are not familiar) from, you guessed it, that coworker. She called me to let me know a great position would open up in a few months and my name was being discussed as a possible candidate, but not let anyone know she told me. Weird right?

Two more. But will be short with both.

My paternal grandmother always told a story about going to get water one night from the farm well and being followed back by a large set of glowing eyes. She said they were too large to be an animal and followed her all the way back to the farm house door before disappearing. No idea what to say about the reality of that other than she believed it to be a real event.

And my mom had an incident with a "shadow person". Long story short it entered the room, she awoke to its presence, said it was roughly my size (five year old) it walked to the side of the bed and raised its arm, she screamed Jesus or Jesus help me and it disappeared. I was young but remember the evening it happened. She had just divorced my father and one could easily write the event off as a dream induced by stress, but a few other things happened at roughly the same moment so as to make the story noteworthy. She believes yelling Jesus saved her from what ever it was.

I don't have anything too exciting

When we first moved into our current house, it seemed like lights were turning on somehow after I turned them off to leave. When we came back, either the upstairs bathroom or flex room light would be on. I was blaming the kids but they were certain they turned them off. I normally looked upstairs before we left anyways to see if lights were on or off. Pretty certain they were off before we left.

Another time, we left the house and later came back, there was a computer plug cord in the middle of the hallway doorway that wasn't there before. If it was, we would have picked it up out of the walkway when we came out from the bedroom. I was trying to blame it on the Roomba. Not even sure if the Roomba was running.

Each family member has heard someone walking on the second floor while being downstairs, when nobody else is home. Our second story floors creak when you walk. I have even ran upstairs to try and "see" whatever was walking or making the sound, but nothing. I blame it on old house noises.

We have friend that does paranormal investigation and she had come to the house. I wasn't there but wife says her friend picked up a voice that said, "hello".

Wife's friend (same as above), her husband never believed in ghost and thought it was all BS until he went with her on a paranormal experience. He believes now. They asked me to go with them but I don't need to open that door.

Don't have any ghost stories but I'm convinced I saw 3 UFOs when I was a kid.

Our house had a large window above the front door. The front of the house faced a large field with one of the city's Rec centers on the other side. I was in middle school at the time sitting at the family computer on the second floor working on my homework. If you sat facing the computer screen, the front door and window above it were visible to your left, and to your right was a window over looking the backyard. It was about 3:00-5:00 in the afternoon when this happened so still daylight outside.

For some reason I looked to my left and noticed 3 orange lights in a triangle pattern over the rec center moving directly towards my house. I assumed I was looking at the headlights of three planes but I continued to watch as they flew directly towards me. The closer they got I realized they were only 50-100 ft off the ground. Also no clear definition of a physical plane ever became visible, just 3 orange lights the whole way. Right when they flew over the house I got out of my seat and ran over to the window overlooking the backyard to see them continue their path over the backyard, except they were gone. It was like they reached the roof of my house and then did an immediate vertical climb. Not only that, they never made a sound. Had that been 3 small planes, they were so low to the ground it would've been impossible to not hear an engine or some kind of propulsion method. Especially if they had gone into a vertical climb directly over our roof. And this was before the advent of modern day drones. Anyway, that was a random afternoon I had in middle school in a major Texas suburb.

I've never really mentioned that experience to anyone, but I have always been fascinated by my experience. With the number of retired military pilots who have come forward with accounts of UFOs with advanced flight characteristics I am convinced there are aliens a with a higher understanding of physics than ours who are constantly visiting our planet for some reason.

Got another one tonight! My son had to make an Ofrenda for school last year, my wife helped him and it was awesome. The deceased was my grandmother and it had a picture of her inside of it. Well in typical freshman fashion he informed us he had to turn in another Ofrenda on Friday. No problem, we just use the one from last year.

It was so awesome that we saved it and put it in the top of our closet. We go to get it out tonight and cannot find it anywhere in the house. Like it has vanished. I have been having very vivid dreams of talking with my Grandma for the last month or so, very calming and comforting. This seems like something she would do.

My wife said before she went to sleep tonight, just watch we will find it back in the top of the closet on Saturday when we don't need it. For giggles, the one we are going to make for Friday is going to be for my Grandpa. That guy as a real jokester so no telling what we are going to bring into the house for that!

OB lurker (mostly on the snake thread) but found this thread interesting.

My dad's first wife passed away unexpectedly back around 1986 in Mexico. They were living down there at the time in a house my dad built and that stands to this day. I was probably 7 when we went down to visit family one summer and we stayed at "our house." I knew my father's first wife passed but didn't know at the time that throughout the house people would often see her in the windows from the outside or would hear her heels as she walked down the halls. One of the nights we were there, I woke up around 2 am to what sounded like heels walking down the hall right outside the bedroom. I didn't think much of it thinking it was my mom or dad. Next thing I know there is this white, translucent head poking through the doorway looking at me as I lie in my bed. Couldn't see the rest of the body or the face but I had this feeling that it was my dad's first wife.

The next morning I told my mom what happened and she said that I wasn't the only one experiencing things that trip. It wasn't until I was in my teens that I learned that one of the last days of the trip my mom was in the house by herself and she called out to my dad's first wife and asked that she leave us in peace and that her intention wasn't to intrude. She left this world tragically and that it was unfortunate but dad chose to get remarried and have children. She was going to do whatever she could to take care of him and their son (my older half brother). My mom said she then felt this rush of wind leave the house and open all doors and windows but since then no more weird stuff has happened and we've been back several times.

I had always thought it was plausible but after my Dad died and began showing up I was convinced. There were lots of happenings that may or may not been him or another being, but 2 instances really got my attention.

First, just a few days offer his death, my wife and I were at a bday party in big private room at Perry's. My dad walked in one door across the room and out the other side giving me a little nod of his head.

The 2nd and last time my dogs saw him too. I was working some crazy hours and usually spent a good portion of Sunday at the office doing paperwork. I would hear normal office noises - office doors, filing cabinet closing etc. The last time I saw him I was at the office alone except for my 2 labs that went everywhere with me every day. They had the office routine down - yellow lab asleep under my desk at my feet and chocolate teets up asleep on his bed in far corner. Something caught my eye and I looked up to see the back of my Dad's favorite flannel shirt go past my office door. At that instant the yellow lab at my feet almost knocked me out of my chair coming out from under the desk, the chocolate jumped up, and they met at the door wagging their tails like mad looking down the hall.

The skeptic in me always found it interesting that so many of these stories are about loved ones that have passed. Always made me think it could be a grieving mind creating something to give peace or a sense of closure. My experiences were absolutely real to me, and made me feel better……..
