Jason Landry Remains Identified

The whole thing is just bizarre. So he was found close to the crash site?

For those much closer to this case how in the world was his remains not found soon after? Seems somewhat close to the car. Wouldn't Texas Equisearch have a good probability of locating him? Cadaver dogs? Wouldn't the smell or buzzards have caught someone's attention (granted it's somewhat remote but there was a lot of traffic and activity in and around that area for some time).

Does anyone know what path he would have taken from where his car was found to where the remains were found?

I posted on another thread, but we have land about 15 miles away from there and while I've never been out to Salt Flat Road (at least that I can remember) I know that area and my theory was he got into a draw or in a mesquite thicket to stay warm and expired. My brother has wounded deer that he never found and never were signs on buzzards, the hogs and other critters always got them ASAP and there wasn't much left only for him to find them years later.

I hope someone can post a map of where the car crashed to where he was found. The "outside the search area" comment is really interesting.

I'm so relieved but sad about this. I've followed this case all along.

I hope his family can have some peace and at least bury him. Wish they could get more answers but I hope there's some closure for them.

Based on the info in the articles and looking at Google Maps, his car was found near 2379 Salt Flat Rd. It appears he walked, sans clothing, approximately five miles south on or parallel to Salt Flat Rd. back toward Luling. His remains were found near the 1400 block of Biggs Rd. which is just east of where Biggs tees into Salt Flat.

It appears he walked, sans clothing, approximately five miles south on or parallel to Salt Flat Rd. back toward Luling. Which makes it all the sadder. He was still alive when his car was found 45 minutes after his last phone ping.

Looks like it is over four miles from 2300 Salt Flat Road to 1400 Biggs Road. That is over 32,000 acres of search radius. Makes it very understandable how searches did not locate him.

Edit: Coincidentally, the city of College Station is also 32,000 acres.

The press release from the AG's office says, " On September 8, 2026, a local resident discovered human remains east of Salt Flat Road, between Soda Springs and Biggs Road."

I just google earthered a pin equal distance salt flats rd, soda springs and biggs it's about 2.4 miles as the crow flies to the appx crash site or about either 3 or 5 miles if you went along the roads.
