I use a trap with apple and peanut butter with a few raw pecans. It will work! Then dispose of the squirrel. I normally drown them (in pool or bucket of water) as it is safer than shooting them. If you take them away, it is recommend to take them 25 miles and normally at night as they can find their way back (very territorial) ....

I'm more in to the mental warfare. I have my son's ancient Daisy BB gun. Still fairly accurate and they make a significantly different thwack sound when you make contact. Doesn't kill (I do have a pellet gun I need to drag out) but definitely makes them haul ass while cocking or shaking the gun.

Those *******s gnawed a hole in my chimney siding a long time ago resulting in some water damage so it's been a protracted war. Fortunately I don't have a house behind me so I don't have to worry about down range fire.

How about some strategically placed dishes/cups of anti-freeze where the dogs (and perhaps cats) cannot reach them where the squirrels travel?

Very few squirrels in the hood. 2nd year they've come back and it's awesome.

Oak trees/pecan trees and squirrels = never ending problem…. but you can play the game… shotgun one in the tree from back porch… set shotgun down inside backdoor and walk thru house and gawk outside like neighbors will be outside of front door…. odds are only 1 or 2 neighbors will ever figure you out
