Just drilled a well on our ranch in Webb county and as expected the water is pretty salty. I know this happens often so what is the best way to make the water at-least usable so that it doesn't tear up everything? What's our best filtration option?

Interested in this as well (no pun intended). At the recently purchased ranch, animals have no problem with drinking it from the troughs. But my 20 gallon water heater in the house is only 7 years old and rusting out.

I'm lucky and my ranch has good wells, but a friend's ranch down the road has terrible water. He's looking at installing one of these https://www.aidwaterglobal.com/ at his ranch.

I bet that uses a ton of energy

Yes our water is pretty bad but from what I'm being told that's normal for that area.

have you had a water sample tested? Knowing how much sodium is in the water will help with selecting systems.
I would recommend an RO System but not all are created equally so the size and configuration of the system will make a difference.

Out of curiosity, and if you are comfortable sharing, how deep was the well and are you on the North or South side of Webb County?

The reason you have bad water is because you let people shoot deer that are bigger than 10pts, but only if they are 7.5yrs old.......

Water level was at 240 and pump was set at 440. I am off 2895 (Aquilares highway) which is 1/2 way between freer and Laredo.

I took it to a pool place just bc it was convenient. I know this isn't a good read but I was just curious and wanted a quick result. See results below.

Father in law in Zapata had a salty water well and used a very large tank as a settling tank to keep the water palatable for cattle. Fortunately a bad frat contaminated the well and a better quality well was drilled to replace.

For about $250k you can drill and equip with a pump a carrizo water well that will fill a 10 acre frac pond in a week or so.
Probably not the solution you were looking for but the Carrizo is a really good aquifer.

Unfortunately they did not test for salts but the high ph shows there is a salt problem. I'd sent a water sample to the A&M soil water testing lab. For$25 you will know how bad it is then you can shop for filtration systems

Do they have a place in Houston or Webb or do you have to mail it in?

Sold on using ground water or do you have a roof capture area (barn, house, etc) that could be used for rain capture?

It would have to be sent to College Station. https://soiltesting.tamu.edu/
It wouldnt hurt to call the local extension office. Once or twice a year a county will have a drop off program where you pay for the test but they send it off to the lab for you.

I'd make sure whatever lab you send off a sample to can test for metals as well. Arsenic is a concern in these shallow and brackish south Texas wells.

First time I've ever heard of a frat doing something good!
