Okay so I'm seeing conflicting answers. My yard has a ton of henbit. Is it to late to fight the weeds with pre emergent? I'm in the NETX.

No, it is not. May not be as effective, but it absolutely wont hurt.

Youalso need to hit it with a post emergent to kill existing weeds.

Too late to do it how it's supposed to be done for the most impact, but not too late overall. Standard schedule would be late Feb/early March, do it again 3 months later, then again around September 1. Dimension, Halts, or balan are the 3 main options for all 3 dates. Then use Gallery as well for the Sept 1 treatment.

Fertilizer would be early April, early June, early Aug, and early Oct. For Texas lawns, fertilizer with a 3-1-2 ratio is a good all-around option

Spread some granule High Yield weed and grass killer on St Augustine yesterday. Will follow up with some HY atrazine spray this weekend. Then compost/Medina.

If you are in the Brazos valley, Producers Coop has a good fertilizer program they call "Brazos Best Green Up" along with a fertilization schedule that will get you on schedule and keep your lawn looking good. I just picked up a bag of the 21-7-14 + micro for my lawn.

That's what I just put down today for about .75lbs/1000 of nitrogen across the yard

I started using this last year and am very happy with it - it's derived from pasteurized chicken manure. Applied it a couple weeks ago to the yard, I also use it on potted plants and garden plants.

I haven't had much luck with the Barricade pre-emergent, maybe I'll try Dimension instead. The last two years I've used Nitro-Phos weed & feed, I know you shouldn't have to if you follow the pre-emergent schedule but that wasn't working. The weed and feed followed by Nitro-Phos 19-4-10 a month later and the yard looks awesome and no weeds.

Good Lord, how much 3-2-3 do you have to put down for it to do any good?

This morning I put out some Scotts Liquid Turfbuilder. I've been mowing weekly already in CS and this morning was best time I found lately where the wind wasnt crazy. Lots of purple and yellow flower weeds coming up so hopefully it will knock most of that out. I'll probably wait 20-30 days before putting our real fertilizer treatment to make sure I'm not just feeding weeds.

I've been happy with this stuff the last few years

Can anyone recommend where I can grab any decent 3-1-2 slow release fertilizer in north Austin/Leander area. Seems like everyone has their favorite brand. Curious where I can start sourcing reputable lawn products from in my area. Also was curious about Trace Minerals.
