I've bought pallets multiple times from Fort Worth Yard Man off of 1187 & 35 in S FW/Burleson. Bought 3 last summer and they delivered for something very fair, but you can also pick up.

I picked up a half pallet of st. Augustine in my half ton truck awhile back. That was about all it could handle weight wise. You'd probably need at least a 3/4 ton truck for a whole pallet. Unless you have a trailer. Just passing this along in case you're thinking about picking it up yourself.

No advice for DFW but in general- buy from a reputable dealer, don't buy cheap pallets of turf.

I live in area with a couple dozen large turf farms and probably a hundred small turf farms.
The big guys guard their reputation and have clean turf.

The smaller guys cut anything green that's mostly St. Augustine. Very common to see a very weedy St.Augustine patch get mowed, rolled, cut and loaded onto 18 wheelers.
That's how many wind up with a weed filled yard.

Completely agree. I re-soded our entire back yard a couple years ago (~4k sq/ft) and buying from an actual farm and having it delivered day of was the best advice I got.

Do not get the stuff from Home Depot, or cheap out from various places. A legit sod farm is worth it for a better product.

King Ranch Turfgrass, store locations in Benbrook and Arlington. I would call in advance.

If you can find it, get Palmetto St. Augustine. It has a deeper root system than Raleigh, which makes it more drought, shade, and cold tolerant, according to my grass guy.

It's done well in my yard for 15 years.
