Can't suggest a name but I've been hearing lots of reports of bad hunts with guides. I'd ask lots of questions before committing.

The over hunting from the duck and goose guides has spilled over to the cranes.

I just got back from my 3rd, 12-man, 2-day trip in 3 years with Tejas Waterfowl in Abernathy, TX. About 15 minutes ago I booked our dates for next year. The crane hunting has been bad ass each year. The goose hunting is hit or miss because of weather. We did pretty good this year and I got my first banded bird; Speck banded in Nunavut in 2016. You can call and talk to them to see if they have any openings this season.

Dane at Tule Creek has been whacking em this year. He is in Tulia. Crooked Wing & Blackfoot are always on birds they are in LBK.

Waterfowl hunting this year has been tough for us in the Concho Valley. Really not much cold weather until the last few weeks.!Season has been slow compared to last few years. The cranes in our area are few and far between this year.

To echo what Dirty-8-thirty Ag said, you'll have to go north of Lubbock to find lots of cranes. I'm usually covered up in 'em in Lynn County and haven't seen more than a few dozen birds at a time on my wheat field this year. I've only shot four on the season. We're in the midst of a bit of a dry spell and it hasn't been as cold this year as normal.

There's tons of food around this year. Farmers planted less cotton and more sorghum. The birds don't have to travel as far from their roosting waters to find food. That keeps 'em pretty spread out.

Good luck!

Howard/Martin Counties are covered up right now. Try Old Sorehead Outfitters, I've never hunted with them, but I've been where they hunt and its overrun.

Checkout final descent or longneck. My buddy has had really good success with them.

We hunted with Crooked Wings out of Lubbock in November. First day was foggy and a bust. I will blame that on the fog. It was pea soup fog. 2nd day was outstanding. Give them a call!

Plainview resident here…I second Sea to Sky. I mentioned in another thread that Orin has the best land access in Hale County and I think he runs full body decoys which is important this late in the season. My next suggestion would be landing gear outfitters. I don't know the guys at Tejas outfitters but their social media stuff is pretty good.

Crooked Wing put us on them on the south side of Ropesville this past Saturday morning

Last season with Tejas waterfowl we had to drive from Abernathy all the way down to Ropesville for the cranes because they didn't like all the snow further north where we normally hunted. That was an extra early morning and made for a long day.
