How long do you want to ignore this user?
I am working with a non-profit organization that provides horse therapy and occupational therapy services in the Houston area. We are looking a purchasing a UTV for for the organization.

General needs are:
  • Hauling manure from barn to poop piles throughout their property
  • Hauling hay from barn/storage to various places throughout their property
  • Hauling wood chips from storage to barn
  • Seats 4 people
  • May also be used to teach people how to drive

Thanks for your suggestions!

Hisun Sector offers a couple of different models that would fit your needs and be well under $20k.

not counting price, pretty much any 2 seater would fit your needs.

as a bigger dude (6' 1" - 275#) the most comfortable one I have ever been in was the John Deere gator.....guessing it was a 2018 model.

$20K for a UTV? I've got a 2009 KR 4x4 6.4 PowerStroke F-250 with Gooseneck hitch with a 10K winch on the front bumper, 146K miles, deleted EGR and DPF, rebuilt turbo, new Fox shocks. You can have it for $18K. It's a manure hauling machine.

Got pics?

And yes, utvs are well above 20k in a lot of instances these days. Especially if it is a 4 "door"

Kawasaki Mule 4010 would likely be the best price and would give you everything you need

Mule pro fxt. You can set it up to haul 6 people when needed or slide the bed to haul more stuff. 6 years with mine and no problems. Not the fastest utv but outworks my cousins' rangers.

I love my Honda pioneer. I use it for similar uses that you're requiring. I use the hell out of it and it just keeps going

I will vote for a Mule Pro FXT fora number of reasons

Ranger 570 Crew and you'll have money to spare. Heck a Ranger XP 1000 Crew can be had for right around $20k.

This. Unless you have extremely rugged terrain, a truck for 20k is a no brainer.

Don't really have any good pics because I was half kidding and not actively selling, but I guess I could give it a bath and get serious

I spent about a day pricing new and slightly used Mules. And then decided to buy a 2004 4WD Tacoma that was already decked out with LED lights, tool box, and a sweet set of tires for $9K. Bonus: my early teen boys are learning to drive stick with it.

I am sure it is.

But it isnt anywhere close to what the OP asked for.

Nothing like a texags thread - looking for a utv, gets offered a 3/4 ton mostly rebuilt truck with no warranty.

Sure, they are close to the same, I guess.

He could also go get a Coleman from TSC....but good luck on service, warranty wok or parts. And with a Hisun - you will need all 3.

Found a mule pro fx a couple weeks ago. I like the longer bed and knew if I had the fold down seats the fxt has that stuff would spill/leak onto the seats. And I rarely need more than the three person bench seat.

For what you described I'd go with a Kubota diesel.

Glad you like it and it will be great. But fxt seats fold vertical against the back of front seat so very unlikely you would spill anything on them if you did by some miracle it would go on the back or underside of the seat not the cushion.

I can't speak to them personally but we looked at them & bought a Honda Pioneer instead. The same dealership carries both. Great price on them & loaded with options, but a neighbor's kid that works in their shop said "go online & read reviews". He said everybody in the shop hates working on them & they have to work on them a lot.

When do you want to come pick up a check? It's a deal.

Not only that, the seat covers are vinyl and pretty impervious to most things.

I can attest that whiskey, beer, rum, ranch water, vodka, water and hydraulic fluid dont stain or damage.

I don't see how a truck is a good replacement for a UTV. I go places with my pioneer I'd never go in my truck, and my truck will leave lots of ruts where the Pioneer doesn't. Things like that are super important to me. Plus the quick in and out of a UTV - for chorin on a ranch it's far more practical for day to day. I very rarely take my truck out on the property. There's uses for both - but a truck is not a replacement for a UTV at all. One thing I like about the Pioneer is the doors - I thought I would take them off when I bought it - but I'm sure glad it has them now that I do. The previous Kawasaki Teryx I had was doorless - given the option I'll stick with doors now that I've had it.

UTVs are light and don't tear up the property. Plus easy to learn how to drive and much slower top speeds for those learning how to drive. We have a 5 seat Can Am and two 2 seaters on our property, at the time we got them there was slim pickings.

Depends on how much wood chips and manure the OP is hauling, if it is not too much a smaller vehicle like an UTV would be much easier since you could fill up / remove the contents of the bed without getting up in the bed like you would have to do with a truck.

People recommending a seater when the OP said 4 seater and hauling poop. Does not sound too wise to me

You can also hook up smaller utility trailers with a UTV and pull them easily as well. I have a 5x8 at my lease that I use with my buggy when I don't need a bigger trailer for whatever, and it is really handy to have.

Our place is pretty wooded, so there are trails that even a small truck wouldn't be able to go, and when it's muddy AF - which it is more often than not - we can get to places in the back that even a Toyota with 33's wouldn't be able to get to, or if it did, it would absolutely tear the hell out of everything getting there.

Everything has a use and a place, for sure. My girls started driving my buggy around the neighborhood when they were 8 - wouldnt' even think of that with a real vehicle.

For sure buy whatever makes you happy and works best for your needs. Just pointing out that a small truck is a viable alternative, and may even be more functional / less expensive in some cases.

My Tacoma ("Ranch Taco") doesn't weigh much more than a big mule, has wider tires, has A/C, a larger bed, but not so large I can't reach half way across, and the kids are learning.to drive stick. It would be easier to get in and out of if I took the doors off, but I like using the A/C in the summer, and I can just drive it into town when I need to gas up.

If by "not much more" you mean over 2x more, then sure, it's not much more.

Curb weight of that tacoma is over 4k lbs. My mule is 1700-1900 lbs, give or take. That is a pretty significant difference.
