Next Generation Squad Weapon rifle with the .277 round is going to sold retail:
" The first shot heard around the world from the 2022 firearms industry is the announcement of the commercial availability of the SIG Sauer NGSW MCX-SPEAR. The MCX-SPEAR is the rifle in the final stages of selection for the Army's Next Generation Squad Weapon (NGSW) that will equip soldiers with new rifles, ammunition, optics, and suppressors. Prior to this announcement, SIG offered the MCX in both 5.56m and 300BLK in a AR-15 sized receiver. The SPEAR, initially offered in .277 FURY (6.8 x 51) is easily converted to both 7.62 NATO and 6.5 Creedmoor."
" The big question is, will the U.S. Army agree and select the MCX-SPEAR as the winner of the NGSW competition? Time will tell."

This new round is quite the solution to the Army wanting a longer range round with punch, with pretty innovative technology incorporated into it. All this to avoid adopting the 7nm Mauser IMHO.
