Next Generation Squad Weapon rifle with the .277 round is going to sold retail:

" The first shot heard around the world from the 2022 firearms industry is the announcement of the commercial availability of the SIG Sauer NGSW MCX-SPEAR. The MCX-SPEAR is the rifle in the final stages of selection for the Army's Next Generation Squad Weapon (NGSW) that will equip soldiers with new rifles, ammunition, optics, and suppressors. Prior to this announcement, SIG offered the MCX in both 5.56m and 300BLK in a AR-15 sized receiver. The SPEAR, initially offered in .277 FURY (6.8 x 51) is easily converted to both 7.62 NATO and 6.5 Creedmoor."

" The big question is, will the U.S. Army agree and select the MCX-SPEAR as the winner of the NGSW competition? Time will tell."

This new round is quite the solution to the Army wanting a longer range round with punch, with pretty innovative technology incorporated into it. All this to avoid adopting the 7nm Mauser IMHO.

Army potentially going with a 6.5 Creedmoor? I guess blood trails aren't an issue when shooting the enemy…

Wow reports say SIG's Fury is working at more than 80,000 PSI. and pushing 3000fps+ from 16 inch barrels..

It really depends on whether or not they had just inhaled or exhaled.

About a 139 grain military FMJ at ~2800 fps, close to the .277 Sig FURY, which launches 135 and 140 grain rounds at 3000 or so. The Spanish used the 7mm against us effectively in Cuba and the Boers out ranged the British .303 in South Africa. The Mauser manages only about 50,000 lbs pressure, however.

I am trying to learn Afrikaans because it is the closest language on Earth to Klingon.

Also had a 5.56m in there, so apparently someone is shooting ballistic missiles

Read up on the bullet. It's not going to be light. For what it's worth, I think .277 Furry is going to be a good round in a bolt action.

Yeah, IF the numbers that SIG is reporting is true I think there is a good chance it will be the next NATO round.
