I use Dewalt around the house and property. I've had a great experience with them. Lowe's had really nice set of the XR (brushless line) on sale for BF. If I hadn't done with a bigger set last year, I'd be all over it. I can't find it online, but was in the print ad and I saw it at the store. Really a great deal.

I wasn't even responding to the made in China part, just the drop test part. A quick google search shows Milwaukee tools are made in US, China and Europe with a new major factory opening in the US. Having trouble figuring out which location the cordless tools are made.

Yea we almost bought one but my wife decided against it. She would rather do it herself than have some tbing running in the background. I think we have too much random crap anyways.

We have a cat (my first ever, kind of came with the house I bought) and my gf wanted to get a roomba. She wanted the best one. I told her I wasn't spending 1100 on a vacuum. She bought it. It is the coolest thing ever. Watching it work around corners and furniture is awesome. I only vacuum when I break a glass. It's been awesome and picks up all the hair and any litter her tracks. I'll happily buy the next one when this thing croaks

how do yalls do on rugs though? we have thick rugs and i am worried it will just get hung up. it got hung up SO MUCH when we had our last one.

The one I have doesn't have issues on any of our rugs.

ours are thick persian rugs on top of a pad. they are not tiny. Plus there are a lot of chairs and stuf as well which in the past were also a problem with the roomba. I just had a terrible experience so im so iffy. and my wife hates the backgroud noise. Wasnt prepared to drop almost a grand on vacuums.

Wyze vs Shark vs iRobot….much difference in quality? Is main thing just finding out which features you want?

We have 98% hardwood floors. Wife and daughter have long hair. Need something that can handle those two things.

Edit: no pets. Boy who, when eating, seems to have a 1:1 ratio of food that makes it in mouth to food that finds the floor

i dont rightly know to be honest. We had a roomba back in the day and found it to get stuck way too often and eventually the tread on the tires worn out from getting stuck which lead to it geting stuck more often. it was more of a PITA than anything. Obviously everyone here seems to have had different experiences.

I can only speak about the Wyze, since that's the one we have. It's marked down from $300+ (I don't remember what we paid for it) to $199 right now. It is not self-emptying, and I don't see how that would really be a benefit, cause you're still going to have to empty something eventually. That also doesn't help you out with hair being caught on the brush heads.

My wife has long hair and just went through the whole postpartum hair loss thing, It's done fine, but it's like any other vacuum. You're going to have to cut hair and other long fibers out of it eventually.

Big pro is that it does a scan of your house and then it cleans in rows so that it covers the whole room. I know other robot vacuums just kind of bounce around and may not cover everything.

Biggest issue for me is that I hate listening to the damn thing and when we run it while we're gone, it'll eventually get stuck on some shoelaces or something else we forgot got left out. It does help cut down on our the hair our lab sheds.
