I've only found a small few on Airbnb and none are in Texas.
I've tried looking on Boatsetter.com but every boat rental is just for a day or less.

Does anyone know of a way to find lake house rentals that INCLUDE a boat to use when staying?

Didn't realize it was even possible with the insurance implications and all.

I would think that arrangement would be EXTREMELY rare.

As bad as owning a boat is (cost-wise) to begin with, I can't imagine owning a boat that any Tom, Dick or Harry could use for a couple days at a time.

Makes sense to me. As a lake house owner, you don't have to move the boat, you have more info on them than someone walking into a marina boat rental place, such as their rental history on Airbnb or VBRO, ect.

Its not about information. Its about protection of the property - the boat.

Think about it this way:

You want a house rental with a boat included so that you can have the freedoms that you don't get when renting from a marina. When you rent at marina, you a limited by schedule, rates (hourly, daily, etc), and access (have to go to the marina to get the boat). If you had a boat at the house you could use it when you want, how you want, however you want, and for however long you wanted.

For the marina, that all adds up to protection of the property.

I imagine the headache of renting out a home is quickly forgotten when rental rates cover the mortgage or property taxes or both.

The headache of renting out a boat to other people...hell to the naw.

You might find what you're looking for, but I would much rather find a great house somewhat near a marina so you could rent the right way.

A ton of issues off the top of my head. You want this to be covered, better inform your carrier this is what you're doing. What that does to insurance premiums, I have no idea.

Then you're risking what is likely a very expensive boat for a couple hundred dollars. Seems like bad math. And are you gonna pull it out of the water and inspect it after every renter? Seems like a lot of work. Then there's the potential liability for personal injuries to the renters or third parties (negligent entrustment as a potential tort claim springs to mind).

I see a ton of negatives that you would have to deal with for the possible payoff of a couple hundred bucks. Very few people who have enough money to own a Lakehouse and boat are gonna make that trade.

That's like a $10k pontoon boat - maybe. He probably doesn't even need to carry anything but liability on it. Assuming he already has a good umbrella because of renting out the lake house.

My homeowners liability & umbrella cover liability & PIP on my boat but not if it's rented out or hired for service. Have to do some mental gymnastics to say the boat was just loaned for free in this case.

Agree with other posters - no way someone is letting you use their $200k Nautique.

ETA: His description says he has boats & jet skis for rental. He's got an LLC set up strictly to rent boats & jetskis. I don't see how the insurance on that makes it worth while, but hey maybe so. Without that structure, the typical Air BNB isn't going to do that.

This is the equivalent of asking if a deer lease comes with guns and ammo rental.

That's all I'm really looking for. Cheap pontoon to take family out on, but not be limited to any schedule or time.

Maybe we can sponsor a boat at the marina that they let us use for the whole weekend at a boathouse when we stay there once a year.

What we've done twice this summer, rent the house via VRBO and then contact a local marina for weekly rental. We've had them deliver the boat to the dock they both charged a tad more for the service, but worth the extra $100 - $150 to have the boat 24/7.

I keep trying to convince my wife to let me move to South Carolina or Georgia. When i get her on board you can rent my lakehouse out and i'll even put a pontoon in their for you!

Years ago i did a pro-forma on vacay rentals. We used boat rental in the pro-forma. I am not sure why more dont offer it.

In addition to everything else said, marinas buy cheap boats for the sole purpose of renting out. Lakehouse owners aren't buying boats to rent. They are buying them for their own use. They are not gonna risk their boat for a couple hundred bucks.

Even if they don't damage the boat, hurt anyone, etc., how many renters could even get the cover back on properly? There is so much involved in boat ownership and to trust all of those to a stranger for a couple hundred bucks makes no sense.

Try Log Country Cove on Lake LBJ.

Great place for a vacation. Beautiful homes and you can rent their boats (some you can drive yourself; for the fancy ones, a driver is supplied).

https://logcountrycove.com/

It's pretty pricey, though.

There's about 5 people I'd let use my boat. Thinking about renting it out makes me nervous.

Lake Lanier AirBNB With Boat Option

Here's one owned by family friends. Good people.

I thought that if it floats, amongst other features, you're supposed to rent due to cost.

It's funny that people think boats just turn on and don't require a 100 point check before the engine will crank. Maybe I'm just too poor to realize those kinds of boats exist.

we stayed at a 7,000 sqft house on lake palestine over 4th of july that had a pantoon boat with it. as mentioned above it was kinda ****ty, but it did run and served the purpose of taking some of the older members of the family on boat rides at night.

i think there were 20 of us there or so. fun trip

That's what I'm thinking. How much risk are you really taking with providing a slow @$$ pontoon boat that isn't that expensive as a rental option to a family that is already renting the place at a price that is going to narrow down the types of people that will stay there?

Making an extra 2 or 300 bucks a day seems like a good income option.

That's the way to do it right there. Pontoon boat for the guests to trash, ski boat for the owners.

Except that's a $50k+ pontoon with that engine & options.

The Malibu in the slip next to it was probably $70k when purchased. Still a very nice boat.

Not exactly comparing a $10k trasher to a $240k Paragon.

That's pretty much what this was. I think the boat rental was $200/day and it got used 2 days out of the 4.5 day trip

Ive stayed at rentals that dont come with a boat, but a lot of the major lakes have rental companies that will bring it to the house on the water for you and pick it up at the end of the stay. I did this on Lake LBJ.

Lol. I rented that place a few years ago, but did not do the pontoon. Was a great spot.
