I'm looking for a portable fan primarily to be used in a garage. Mostly used for working out, or just general spending time in the garage in the Houston heat. Not looking for a portable air conditioner or anything installed. Thinking a pedestal fan but open to other suggestions.

Thoughts?

This one has been my go to for the last 5 years or so when i'm out working in the garage and i've been quite happy with it. Moves a ton of air keeping me as cool as possible in a houston summer. plus it keeps the mosquitos at bay. my only complaint is it clearly doesnt oscillate so if i'm moving around a lot i'm constantly in and out of the airflow.

i've also got a pair of these in the attic i am thinking about mounting in the garage or building mobile pedestals for. also move a great amount of air, plus they oscillate. looks like they sell it as a floor stand model as well.

I know you want portable, but wall mounted fans take up no floor space. I typically use these but they are out of stock.

If you can, go the belt driven route. Direct drive motor fans are extremely loud. I have a direct drive by MaxxAir. It has lasted for 15 years, but is loud. I plan on upgrading to the larger belt driven model. May not bother you, but for long workouts the noise can be exhausting.

I am currently using a Portacool. That motor is pretty quiet and moves a ton of air.

Vornado is another that moves a ton of air and quieter than larger fans. I have one in front of my bike trainer and treadmill.

Good fan suggestions and more to come I'm sure.

I added a portable dehumidifier so sweating in my garage (with the door closed) actually works.

Belt drive allows slower blade speed, with a greater blade pitch. The way to go....

This is what I use. I haven't had the chance to measure the temp difference, but would guess it lowers the temp by about 10 degrees this time.of year in Katy. I use it in the evenings to host dart games in my garage. I'm pleased with it. You might be able to find it cheaper but I bought from Uline for their customer service.

Much smaller & less air flow than the ones mentioned so far, but I have a Dewalt fan thats very portable. Probably wouldn't be enough for working out since you'll be moving around.

Hey I am open to it even though I don't know you. What are your redeeming qualities? How much does it pay? Hot garage and summer coming I won't work cheap. Also I am not very portable.

I like these a lot for portability

Comes with a bracket/hook to hang on the wall and then quickly becomes a floor fan too.
