And what are you doing about them?

Wife won't leave the house, and when I go outside the buzz from the mosquito swarm is impressive.

Went out this afternoon to spray malathion from a 4 gallon backpack sprayer while wearing a tyveck hazmat suit, a headnet and gloves. I had broadcast bifenthrin granules last week but the 10 inches of rain that fell since then seems to have washed it all away.
NO AMNESTY!

in order for democrats, liberals, progressives et al to continue their illogical belief systems they have to pretend not to know a lot of things; by pretending "not to know" there is no guilt, no actual connection to conscience. Denial of truth allows easier trespass.

Was down at our place near Freer over the weekend. What looked like a drought stricken desert two weeks ago now looks like a jungle. Standing water in spots. Skeeters weren't bad Saturday but yesterday afternoon I was getting swarmed by dozens in the low spots.

I live in the middle of rice fields, flooded hay fields, and corn fields that look like rice fields. We breed them by the millions.

Malathion and permethrin cycle with hose end sprayers (they seems to do better than small sprayers). Mow the grass in the yard religiously. Even if it means ruts. Make sure to spray the trees, bushes, everything they can hide in. I also spray broadcast in the ditches and in my hay field bordering the yard.

So, you are my neighbor? And I only stuck the zero turn twice when I mowed 2 days ago.

Spartan Mosquito Eliminator tubes work perfect on my 1 acre.

Used them the past 3 years and mosquito reduction by 95% I would say.

It's rained so much up here in North Texas, I'm plowing up all my bermuda lawn and planting rice!

I just saw a swarm of the big ones carjack a guy in front of my house. Didn't know a mosquito could handle a 9mm, but one did......like a boss!

Tried those and they were utterly ineffective. We have fly traps that are the bags you add water to and they do a decent job of keeping the flies down, but only Thermacell lanterns work for us (in the 'burbs)
Nobody cares. Work Harder

Interesting. Did you put the spartans away from areas you typically congregate or walk by?

We use to have severe mosquito issues. We are 30 yards from a pond & creek. I put 2 Spartans at the far back of the lot and 2 hiding in shrubs at the far front of the lot. We haven't had Mosiquitos since. The only place you may see them now is if you walk all the way back by the spartans (of course because they attract the mosquitos).

Within 20 yards of the house & driveway we have no more pesky mosquitos.

You may need to double up on them at each location you place them.

You know you have a mosquito problem when you monitor them with your home security cameras. That is where we are now down in Chapman Ranch. My mosquito magnet is catching them by the thousands. I have four spartan tubes hanging. I'm tossing mosquito dunks in all the standing water (drainage swales) and I'm fogging them daily. Until the water recedes I am fighting a losing battle.

We used the Spartan's and didnt really see any lasting benefit. There is a lawsuit currently against them for being a fraud.

NW Montana, we've had a ton of rain and flooding, and have significant inundation on our property. Mosquito swarm is insane.

I've been spraying Malathion around the house every 2-3 days and it's helping quite a bit, but the river portion of our property is not accessible at this time due to the number of mosquitoes.

Yeah, something definitely changed. First year i used them there were dead mosquitos filling the tube up. Last year's batch was basically empty in comparison.

Yep, there's a ton. I think it's magnified because their viability is condensed outside of the winter months, so you get a 1-2 month reprieve in Texas, we get 4-5 months. The area I'm in is a temperate rainforest, so mild winter temps (relatively), although lots of snowfall. Eggs stay dormant and then erupt in the spring. Tons of standing water after a very wet spring = explosion of mosquitoes.

I've been camping in East Tx for the last week near Athens. Not a single mosquito. I think it's too damn hot for them.

Get back to Carrollton and the no-see-ums come out at dusk and tear your ankles apart. Bass turds.
