Wanting to get a new grill for my mom. Currently she has a 10 yr old rusted out Charbroil.

She lives alone so doesn't need a large grill, grills maybe once every other week, and has a smaller patio.

Any rec's or personal experience with any around the $200 and under range?

Looking at things like the following:

Pit boss from Lowes

Weber Q1000 from Amazon

I had a Char-Broil that I loved. It rusted; important parts that I could not replace myself. I got a Weber. I love it. I got stainless so it won't rust.

I generally agree that Weber rules them all. My grill is a Weber Spirit that I;ve used for 7 yrs, and my FIL used for about 5 yrs prior.

My main concern was the BTU rating on those Q grills. I guess it's such a small space that it's not too detrimental?

Get the 2 burner Spirit. Weber Q is not what I would prefer for regular cooking. They are great for a tailgate or camping, but not for regular stuff.

I really like my Weber Q. It does a great job on anything that requires direct heat.

Serious answer...I have the Weber Spirit and use it around 3-4 times a month. Have had it for the past 3 years with no issues.

Only thing I don't like about it is that you have to use the flip-up side tray to move the grill around. Obviously not a problem if she's planning to leave the grill in one spot.

I bought a Weber Spirit II E-310 a few years ago. It has lived on and off at the coast, by the water. I keep it clean after use, spray it down with Stainless Steel Cleaner and cover it after use. It looks and works like practically new. I'm frankly surprised and very impressed with it. And it's not even the "high end" Weber.

I use it with and without Grill Grates, with a Smokist smoking pouch, direct grill, smoke and even cedar plank fish. Works great with everything. I've been a lifelong charcoal or wood guy (and still have my LyfeTyme), but I'm learning to really enjoy this gas grill. Highly recommend it.

I used to have a Char-Griller bought from Lowe's. I think they're in the $250 range for the small one. Cast iron grates, and decently thick hood. That thing put out some serious heat, had easily replaceable parts, and still worked when I upgraded after 9 years.

If you're not opposed to buying used and if budget is a concern, you can usually find a good small Weber Spirit or Genesis on Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist. Replacement parts are also very easy to order online if you need to.

I have a brand new...well never used... Nexgrill Infared two burner, from Home Depot. Dont remember the model number. Bought it a few years ago, just have never used it. Comes with a cover, utensil set, fish basket, fire extinguisher, grill pad, gauge, full tank of gas (from Sams vending machine) The cover and pad have some age and the grill has been uncovered for awhile. I think that is it. 250.00
