Feet..cotton socks under wool socks
Top..tee shirt, long sleeve turtleneck tee shirt, flannel shirt, fleece pullover, carhart hooded coat,face mask with additional stocking cap,neoprene fishing gloves, ski goggles while moving

Thank y'all. I've got wool socks but on Monday they didn't seem to do a darn thing, maybe too tight or just not a good brand.

Thin wool dress socks under thicker smart-wool ski socks and insulated boots.

Merino base layer. Usually from Black Ovis or FirstLite + patagonia and Minus33 options. Then heavier wool sweater or vest under a soft-shell hunting jacket.

More or less the same for the pants. Basically wool touching every part of your body, including boxer briefs.

It's Texas, so I don't need to worry too much about plunging temps like mid-west, mountain hunters.

During this latest winter escapade, spent a lot of time outside messing with pool, lights, pipes, etc. Wool socks and Solomon boots. Merino heavy wool bottoms and Marmot Scree pants.

Upper was lighter merino wool, heavy wool sweater and a puffy + neck warner and beanie and ski gloves. Zero issues.

would like to know what gloves y'all use that are not worthless after an hour in sub freezing temps, I have some highly rated Columbia ski gloves that are not that great

My best outdoor gear I use for layering is Cabelas Wool Camo , this stuff is awesome

Haha - no I buy it on sale - occasionally my wife buys me one or two items for Christmas and that's pretty much all I get

*The Mucks were 1/2 price at a feed store going out of business

*Sitka & Kuiu are usually on sale a for at least 20% off

For hunting in cold weather, I bring a hand muff from cabelas. It has a strap that goes around your waist.
Toss an air activated hand warmer in there and your hands will stay toasty through negative temps.

I just wear glove liners with the iPhone screen touch pads on the finger tips and this keeps my hands from sweating in the muff.

I've found this combo far more effective and convenient than expensive gloves that just don't work as well.
