REWARD UPDATE The family and friends of Jason Landry have decided to remove the conditions contained in the previous offer and simply ask that the successful claimant provide sufficient and clear details to enable search and law enforcement teams to locate and return Jason. Go to https://drive.google.com/file/d/17mhB2Wuwv2_vJ4aIPK3thT-fPK-DNc1I/view?usp=sharing for how to make a claim and further details.
How was the previous offer different? when they locate and return do they mean D or A?
I know the family is going through a lot, but that note is just bizarre to me. The more stipulations you put on it, the less help you get. I don't know the family's finances but in the grand scheme 10k is nothing, take the help, pay whomever and be eternally grateful for it.
I went back and looked at this case again. The fact that his phone was found in between the seat of his car is an interesting detail.
I can see the the guy dropping his cell phone in between the seat while he was trying to drive. Probably had navigation on at the time. Phone slides out of his hand and ends up between seats and console. It happens.
Dude says F it .I know the way, I'll dig around for the phone when I stop.
He cant see the navigation on his phone, gets confused and keeps going straight when he should have turned,
He keeps thinking he's gonna eventually get to a main road and pull over, but a few more miles go by. No main road.
He's getting frustrated. Driving way too fast for a gravel road at night.
He tries to dig his phone out from in between the seat. Overcorrects, skids off the road, hits trees and fence.
He's in shock from the crash, but no major injuries. He panics because he thinks the cops might show up He grabs his backpack starts walking down the road.
What happens next?
How do his clothes and the contents of his backpack get strewn all over the road?
1. A passing motorist accidentally hits him, driver freaks out and drives away from the scene with body stuck to the car or body flipped into the bed of a truck or trailer.
2. Dude walks for help, succumbs to the cold and is otherwise consumed by nature before body found. (Why not retrieve phone from car and call for help?)
Unlikely But Possible
3. Accident was staged to dispose of car and phone at same time and disappear. (Why risk injuring yourself trying to wreck your own car?)
4. Some sort of foul play scenario with someone else involved. (Again, why crash a perfectly good car and risk injury?)
There only seem to be two elements of this that are strange/unique. The scattered clothes, if he stripped down. But that could be partially explained if he put on warmer clothes to walk for help. But odd, especially leaving the phone and wallet. And of course, the second strange thing is no body. It feels like the rest would make sense if either of those two items could be explained.
What about a combination of some sort of predatory animal and hogs or just hogs. Is it possible?
Good point about the winter clothes. At the time of the wreck, the dude probably had on some track pants, a tshirt and flip flops. Maybe a hoodie.
If its high 30s, low 40s with any kind of wind, you gonna get cold really quickly.
I can't see the dude walking that far in those conditions. Seems like most people would stay with the car and not walk off. if they did walk off, it certainly wouldn't be without phone or wallet.
I can definitely buy that he loses his phone and in the attempts to get that back, crashes.
But he has enough cognitive ability to get the rest of the stuff out of the car - mainly the backpack & fish. It's not hot enough to need the fish cup for drinking water. How long do you think he panicked about the phone and tried to retrieve it?
He walks about .15 miles down the road. On a cold night, carrying stuff, and sandals that's what? 5 minutes. Maybe closer to 10 min depending how hurt he was. That's enough time to say this is stupid, I'm going back for the phone, eating my pride and calling Dad.
The car was only found just over an hour later, maybe less considering that includes the time it takes to get down Salt Flat Rd. Waze turns off at 11:24 PM entering Luling, the car is found at 12:31 AM.
I just don't think there's enough time for all of that to happen and the person that finds the car to not find any evidence of Jason alive.
I think it's more likely some methhead hears the crash and "investigates" or someone else was involved in the crash scene shortly thereafter.
He gets out of the car, still can't find his phone because it's dark and he's disoriented from the crash. Or maybe the crash made him lose his phone.
So he's walking along to get help and some sicko sees their opportunity, pulls a gun, and makes him strip naked. He's tied up and thrown into a car, never to be seen again.
He was followed, by a helper. They create the scene, scatter the clothes, and then boom. He gone.
The only way I see that happening is if he did get hooked up with that weird church cult. There's valuable for them in others believing he is dead. Otherwise he would just leave on his own. And I see that more of a situation where they knew what they were doing, but he didn't know what they were doing.

It's still risky to intentionally crash your own car. And the fact that he got out with his fish makes me think he was trying to go get help.
And his dad was the one that found his clothes the next day. It's possible that someone grabbed him and then dumped his clothes back at the crash scene later.
I thought I had read the dad and/or investigators walked to the stock pond first and didn't see anything. Then the dogs went later that day and that's when they made the decision to drudge it. Could have been following their scent?
If you made me guess, his body is somewhere in the immediate area. It reminds me of the cases where there's all kinds of mass searches only to have some poor hiker stumble upon a body. Obviously the hiker scenario can't play out here, but I wouldn't be surprised if somebody that's not looking for him makes the discovery.
i would have taken notes, but I listened to an interview of his dad before falling asleep. One of the co-hosts had the same possible theory as myself.
Here's what I remember off the top of my head:
Weed amount was only enough for personal use The drug theories are 'possible', but people got too hung up on that due to initial reports.
18 months (From Feb. 2021) to process all cellphone info. due to not having passcode (encouraged others to have a 3rd party know passcode)
Not certain if clothes fell out when tow truck took the car
No proper accident investigation
Dad used to be a lawyer (criminal) so he's somewhat familiar with the process
Dad understands the limited resources of investigators
I guess some people speculated he could have fell into a wellhead, but that's not possible
Landowners have been cooperative
Drone. atvs, etc. have been used
It was only his first year at Texas St. so Jason wasn't too familiar with the route as some have said
Security footage near the area and along the route seems to have been reviewed (they didn't identify any specific stores)
They mentioned murders that have happened in that area, but there aren't any persons of interest as of the linked video.
Car likely did a 180 along Salt Flats Road. Don't know if he was distracted or dodging an animal. Only Jason will know that.

Dammit, this thread is as frustrating as the African Jeep tour one a while ago. I hope he's either found living or at the least his parents get some closure. But damn it's mind boggling that they can't get some type of lead after finding his abandoned car.
