Anyone have coordinates for where the car was found, cabin locations, pond location etc? I'd be curious to see what the area looks like on google maps.
Remember that maps does not always show you current buildings. Can be off by 3 yrs.
Noticed this the other day when measuring property. And something I built 3-4 years ago is not on there today.

Google Earth always shows the "best" image, not necessarily the latest. I have found that if you click the clock at the top to show historical imagery, often times the image will change to a more recent one than the default.
Still does not work. I don't see a clock up top. Is that only Earth Pro? You have to pay for that app?

Google Earth Pro has been free for a number of years now. Just read the installation instructions. There's an activation code in there

Need a modern day Famous Shoes on the case, or perhaps a Kalihari bushman tracker

I spent solid time reading up in this during work calls yesterday. Very interesting some of the theories out there.

Looking at the map though and looking at the location of the wreck... if he did run on foot and get to a pond to "lose" his scent; he very well could have ran over to TX-86 to get away. Maybe that's who he reached out to via Snapchat. Staged? Maybe.

He's absolutely dead.

The conspiracy theories are wild.

If he shows up alive I'll eat deep fried crow.

I agree. Unfortunately. It's laughable to me that a stoner college kid (not that there's anything wrong with that) hatched some genius getaway scheme. I'll gladly come back here and eat crow if I'm wrong.

I don't think this theory isn't totally plausible. My issue is the area where the crash occurred and the tank are situated, there is a lot of open pasture as well in this general area. I find it hard they missed him, it was in the 30's that night, so if elements did play a role, he shouldn't of been hard to find.

In the interview earlier this week (link provided in an earlier post) with Mr. Landry, he said that the local property owners have been very helpful in searching their own areas.

They are planning a public volunteer search in a couple weeks. Said that the pipes on the land are only 18 inches.

He also said that the info from Snapchat hasn't come back yet.

why almost 2 months later would they be waiting on Snapchat? Do they have supercomputers breaking encryption?

I think the dad knows, but is not at liberty to say because the other party is 1) not a suspect, or 2) a suspect. Alternatively, the dad does not know, but the police do, but the other party is 1) not a suspect, or 2) a suspect.

Or the other party in Snapchat lawyered up and sealed their account.

The Snapchat probably had nothing to do with anything. He was probably just checking a Snapchat from a friend

or the person on Snapchat was directing him to meet up, thinking it'd be harder to trace than voice or text message since chats can be deleted automatically

The conversation may be a clue to what happened. I would not be too quick to blow it off.

Absolutely, if the conversation was still on his phone and not deleted by the victim or perpetrator. I can see
how someone with nefarious purposes would use it as a preferred means to communicate since it's easy to delete conversations by both parties.

I'm not saying it should be blown off. Absolutely all avenues should be explored to find this kid. It's just highly likely that it was simply a snapchat from a friend.

So I'm talking this weekend to another follower of this strange disappearance and he asks me if I have ever heard of FLAKA. This is a drug that if taken in a dose just a little more than what you should causes you to become extremely agitated and extremely hot and it is well known for people to strip their clothes off and run through the streets naked. It is not PCP I believe he said PVP. I think if this kid did this drug everyone in the area would have known he was there, but others think this is what happened because of the clothes everywhere.

I tend to agree with you... He is just way too calm and mild mannered to not have some information that he can't / won't share. A lot of things here just don't add up

Being calm has nothing to do with being guilty or not. If he sounds like a nervous basket case 2 months later, then he's not guilty or hiding something? That is just pop psychology at its worst. The man is a former lawyer and current clergyman. I'm sure he has been through a lot previous to his son's disappearance, and been through hell since his son's disappearance.

Of course he's not telling us every little thing. Because those things are not pertinent in all likelihood to finding an answer to his case. Didn't approve of his HS girlfriend? Found a porn mag in his backpack 3 years ago? Friend from high school busted for pot possession? All these things could be true of anyone (I just made them up as examples) but are not what a dad should be talking about to the public.

The dad is a freaking hero in this case. He's the one who was doing the work the police SHOULD have been doing.

He knows something, if your kid went missing would you go through the car or ask the authorities if they had searched it yet. He himself went through that car said he found all these things...wow that's fortunate. Either he is covering for his son or himself.

I don't buy the "son and dad are guilty" theory. I think that's ridiculous. So dad doesn't want son to be found, purposefully holding back information that could allow his son to be found, because of some big bad secret.

The competing theory here is that the police in Luling are incompetent.

I'll take #2.

One of the basic tenets when you have multiple dog teams is making sure the handlers work independent of each other. Otherwise, the handlers may unconsciously bias themselves. In Johnson County we had the "super baby" case. Toddler went missing from effectively a drug house. 3 dog teams were brought in. Note this was in the middle of August about 12 years ago. Two came in pretty close to each other time wise. Dog one hit a scent, crossed the road and went straight to a pond about across the road and about 50 yards out in a pasture. There was one toddler foot print at the edge of the pond. This brought all search efforts to a halt (bad idea, but that was on the Sheriff's department). Later I would be shown the track and it was not from that day. Dog #2 followed the exact same path. Hasty grid of the pond, nothing. Dog #3 was a lab know to be a really good trailer. Right as they got ready to start, a deputy mentioned what the other 2 dogs did. The dog initially started the same way, but turned at the end of the trailer house headed to the back fence. As we watched, for whatever reason, the handler pulled off the dog, and it veered back and took the exact same route as the other 2 dogs....48 hours, the baby was found sitting next to a stock tank about 2 miles due north of the trailer. Wearing a clean diaper......yeah. Never heard how the investigation worked out.

Burleson roughly 2004. Cocaine stung out diabetic with no shoes crashed his car along I-35. Best guess was he freaked out and ran. Canine got him to an apartment parking lot across the highway, and then lost. Area was "throughly" searched by various leo agencies. He was eventually found about 76 yards away in a bridge culvert entombed in mud.
..you know, the first place you should probably look.

*Bloodhound was an odd deal. This was down around Rusk in the middle of the summer around 2006 (don't hold me to the year). 75 year old, supposedly with Alzihmers disappeared (but no one other than a daughter seemed to know anything about the Alzihmers, the husband never mentioned it in his interview). She was annoyed with the husband about something, and did her usual walk it off. She was in good shape for her age, and was known to be content walking a good distance (Alzihmers patients in good physical shape are a royal pain to hunt for). Poof nothing. I don't remember how or why, but a Texas Ranger was involved and suddenly we had a TDCJ bloodhound on scene. Dog took the expected route, but before hitting a small highway, veered off across a pasture. Hit a fence and nada. The fenceline was fairly overgrown and no signs of vehicular traffic. Very little doubt she went that way, but might as well be an alien abduction. Last time I checked, she never was found.
