Drenching: It is recommended that you drench the mounds with a diluted residual insecticide such as Conquer Insecticide or Dominion 2L at 1 oz per 5 gallons of water.

Spraying An Insecticide: Another method would be to spray non-repellent insecticide labeled to spray in the yard, like Dominion 2L. When spraying the Leafcutter Ant trails as a residual insecticide, use 3/4 oz per gallon of water. The trails are very distinctive, looking like a worn path of bare ground.

Mix poison with grape nuts and put around the trail and entrance. They love grape nuts for some reason.

this kinda works........it definitely makes them move to a different location. Been at them for a few months with this and finally starting to see a decline.

I've always wondered if a fungicide would starve them out

Apparently ants are not alone as the world is gripped in a wide scale grape nuts shortage. Who knew? I just assumed Grape Nuts were for old people who enjoy the taste of gravel.

Grape Nut Shortage

From the article.
"On Walmart.com, a third-party seller listed a 4-pound box for $110 and there also are Amazon and eBay listings with hiked up prices."

Get a container of orthene (white powder in a brown bottle) from Lowes about $11.50 and just prinkle a little dust around the entrance to their mound and it will kill a mound in one night. Check every few days and powder any new nests and before long you will have them killed . May have some new ones move in after some time but just repeat and you will soon have them under control. Been doing this for 5 years and it works.

I have a lot of experience with them. You have to find the main mound. It's generally huge. Like 5 to 10 feet in diameter and can be as far from where they are working as a quarter of a mile. Just treating the little sucker holes they use to transport cut leaves won't do it. I use something called Delta Gaurd granules. MAde by bayer. Can get it on Amazon. I generally have to treat the mound twice. Two weeks apart. that does it. i've killed four main mounds on my property. They one that gets me now is on a nieghbors property. Treating tress and plants with seven dust will keep them away for a few day. They are *******s.

Termidor is the best killer for leaf cutters, so I've heard.

It most likely would but Termidor pretty expense. Taurus SC is the generic Termidor that's cheaper. Dominion 2L yields 50 gallons of finished solution per bottle instead of just 24 gallons for Termidor and its alot cheaper. I've seen guys use this to treat around facilities, their mounds and their trails. You can also put out DeltaGard G Insecticide Granules with the Dominion 2L where the leaf cutter ants are.

This is the right info.

I should have specified that it's whatever the active pesticide is in Termidor (TM), ya the non-brand name stuff will be alot cheaper.

Put out 5 oz Taurus per acre and you are done. Trust me on this. Taurus = Termidor = PTM Insecticide. PTM is labeled for leaf cutter ants.

I didn't think about posting that when I did my previous post just mentioned the liquids. That will work as well. I'd still also add DeltaGard G Insecticide Granules as well as a lot of guys are adding this along with Taurus or Dominion 2L in whatever form.

There is a new product out for this ant. It's called Leaf Saver Ant Bait. I haven't found anyone local that has it in stock yet however.

Just a quick check the ingredient is Hydramethylnon which there older products that are still good baits like the MaxForce Baits & Gels. There use Hydramethylbon. Also Extinguish Plus Fire Ant Bait uses it as well with IGR added

Same active, yes...but the bait matrix has to be different in order for cut ants to really pick it up.

There was a fantastic bait a few years ago called Volcano that was absolutely fantastic on cut ants....not approved for landscapes, though.

Cut ants love a citrus bait matrix and the granules must be a certain size.

I had the buggers at my farm. We had multiple mounds. They would travel a long way to forage and absolutely destroyed my blackberries. I had pretty good luck just sprinkling orthene fire ant killer on the mound. It would really knock them
Back but not kill them. Anyway, good luck.
