You do know that this (bullet seating to/from lands) can be accomplished with ANY round, right? This is not specific to the PRC.

Any half ass redneck reloader, even ones living in East TX, can measure distance to lands and seat bullets as desired.

I'd love to know how you're going to get all these wonderful 6.5 PRC benefits in a short action with really long bullets like 156gr bergers while still fitting in a mag AND not having it eat into available powder space.

LA is definitely the easy button for getting the most out of mag cases originally intended for short actions.

I was more piling on the poster that bought into the marketing hype that 6.5 PRC is somehow a magic case, and you can't load a 6.5-284 norma to do the same damn thing.

I've shot a few animals with the 147gr ELDM. Judging by consistent reports of better initial penetration before fragmenting, I think I'll be happier with the 156gr EOL.

It's about a text book of a mushroomed bullet as one could ask for.

I can't say any bullet is perfect, as strange things happen. But I've seen enough from the ELDM over a few years to trust it to do this when plowed through flesh and bone.

I wish I had more photos, but I don't catch many. They usually just leave me with a well sized exit as a reminder of their time spent passing through...

None of the 4 animals I've shot with ELDM had exits. ~40, 200,300,and 465 yds. Usually just find a piece of the jacket in the chest cavity. Totally pleased with the results, as it was 3 DRT (as in dropped like a sack of potatoes and were doing the stanky leg on the ground DRT) and one that made it 20-30 yds, but I want something a bit less splashy.

It's a moot point anyway, wasn't able to find 147gr ELDMs as a component, was able to get 156gr bergers. I'll shoot up my supply of factory ELDMs, the workup a load with the bergers in the 6.5-284 barrel I'll be screwing on myTikka.

Follow up: I bought a 6.5 PRC and now realize a big mistake. Basically, unless you are loading your own, forget a 6.5 PRC and stick with Creed. Finding 6.5 PRC ammo is nuts and pushing over $5/rnd with some bearing $6/rnd on Gunbroker.

700 yards for me. Wyoming 7x5 in 2016.
7mmSTW. Sure, I would have preferred to have been closer but that wasn't an option. It made the difference between a punched tag and tag soup. YMMV.

It will settle down. Be patient. That's partially why I built a 7x57mm Mauser. Ammo is no factor. Just smoked a hog with ammo that costs $14 /box.

Christensen Arms 24" carbon fiber MPR, short action. Bought at Burdett & Son two weeks ago for $2,295 (retail) plus $200 tax. Hasn't been shot (obviously).
