Disabling grip safety on Shield EZ

I got my daughter a Shield EZ and we've put around 100 - 150 rounds through it. She is having issues with consistently disengaging the grip safety. I haven't had any issues with it. I'm no pistol instructor, but I'm trying to get her to grip it higher than she sometimes does. Is taping over the grip safety crazy talk? (See video). She has the model with the manual thumb safety as well. Or maybe I should get her some instruction with someone who knows more about these things than I do.

Sell that thing and buy a Glock.

380 or 9?

I've shot both. My wife has the 380. I'd say in all instances it has never given me any problems.

We have a few variations of the EZ and haven't had any issues with them. She probably needs to definitely work on her grip. Holding too low is going to cause excess kick and has caused my wife malfunctions due to it on handguns without the grip safety.

I've read on a few forums that disabling the grip safety also disables a drop safety.

From what I've read and what I've seen from a few videos you have to really get your hand up high wedged under the Beavertail to really disable it.

I'll go check my wife's in a few minutes and see if gripping it low causes any problems

Just tried my wife's EZ380. It takes very little pressure to disable the grip safety. I had to grip over half way down, very weakly, to get it to not fire.

" It will sometimes prevent you from uh, getting the trigger to work"

This has to be the worst gun video I have ever watched. Surely it's a troll.

This. People can make all the Glock fanboi jokes they want but my 43x has fired every time I have pulled the trigger. Which admittedly shouldn't be a high bar but if you are having to come up with a work around for that gun the problem isn't the work around. Go get a different gun and keep your daughter safe.

My two cents....I don't have any real advice other than...

DON'T DO IT.

I know you mean well, but get a pistol she can use. I would never condone disabling a safety of any sort on a firearm.

That last sentence nails it.

1) I would not own a gun with a grip safety.

2) maybe shooting lessons for your daughter? I don't do well when Mr Dubi coaches me, so maybe y'all have the same dynamic.
