How quickly should I expect my LTC to arrive in the mail?

For those of you who have done that. I sent in my form documenting my classroom and field class and test a week ago and did my fingerprints Tuesday morning. The lady who did the prints said it would be mailed to me within 65 days. I imagine with how election results currently sit, they've probably got a high volume of work right now.

I'm trying to go on a trip over the winter break with some friends, but it's too a slightly less safe part of Texas than College Station so I was hoping to have that.

Also, outside of taking the LTC class, doing the range test, submitting that, and doing the fingerprints, is there anything else I need to send in?

DPS has 60 days by statute to issue a license after everything has been received.

You can use the tracker on the DPS website to see whether they have all of the needed documents

Track Here

Above link will tell you if you're missing anything or if anything is pending review, if it has been mailed, etc.

It does take a week or two to register all your submitted information so don't be confused if there's no information listed right away.

When I submitted mine back in March, it was about 2 weeks.

Submitted my last requirement on 10/15. Apparently license was put in the mail on 11/10.

My last renewal came back freakishly fast. In 2-3 weeks if I remember correctly. But that was also quite a while back.

Be patient and track on the link provided above. Personally I didn't track mine because I assumed it was going to be 30-45 days minimum.

For me its better not to expect anything out of things like this. Only setting yourself up for disappointment.

It's a government agency, so expect the worst. Rather than "how quickly..." maybe the better question is "how slowly..."

interesting tidbit, my wife and i sent in our packages together. We tracked the progress online. Hers "flew" through with no issue. Mine went to an extra step, don't remember what it was called, but something like "secondary review". I have a security clearance with the Fed gov't, so maybe it just gave them extra info they COULD review, whereas she had nothing in any file to look at? Maybe the security clearance slowed mine down instead of being a fast-forward on the process. Or maybe there's some jagoff out there with the same or similar name to mine. Or who knows. Like I said, it's a government agency, presuming that there's a logical explanation is probably a fallacy.

I would take the word, "expect", out of the question.

I submitted everything on Sept 28 and received it in the mail on Nov 9, so it took 6 weeks to get mine...

I did mine in March of this year, took 2 weeks from last submitted paperwork until received by mail.
