https://www.midwestindustriesinc.com/default.aspThese rifles come with a warranty and, much like Whataburger, they don't build it until you order it. So you might want to consider that these folks build rifles professionally, day in and day out, rather than someone doing a homebuilt that does it every once in a while and are often following youtube videos.
An issue with a home build could...I say again...COULD, be that either yourself or the person that you are building with could be lacking in the armorer course/building/experience category. It's sort of like an auto mechanic, some do it for 30 years and still aren't advanced past tire rotations and oil changes. Just because someone has built an AR, or even several, in the past, does not mean they know what they are doing.
I have heard it said that ARs are like putting together legos...which is partially true, except that this could be a weapon that you will be betting your life on someday. There are a few nuances to pins and parts that some ...I say again...SOME folks get wrong. So, for that reason, I'm all about a factory rifle with a warranty and I absolutely will not buy someone else's home build, ever.
Some folks will build or buy a rifle, shoot a few hogs with it an say, "it runs great". Be careful with that. MOST guys don't send enough rounds downrange to make an accurate determination as to whether a rifle "runs" or not. Take one through a 1500rd count training course. Get it so hot that the heat is real, I mean 300rds in fairly rapid succession. If you have no issues, then you should be fine.
A 200rd AR, that's been to the range a few times and shot a few hogs has never been ran hard enough to test it.
