Y'all have recs for any quality outfitters for deer hunting that don't charge an arm and a leg? Would like to get my 14-year old out for his first whitetail buck this fall, but don't want to spend $5,000 for the privilege. Preferably within 4 hours of Houston. Thanks!

Cato Gage Ranch in Kendalia in the hill country. Dwayne the ranch manager is super cool and they have a low and high pence portion and a little cabin you can stay at. Prices have always been fairly reasonable.

You ride with us or meet in Laredo & we buy groceries at H-E-B. Get gas & cross at Colombia. Drive 1 hr via busy highway through scenic Northern Mexico to the ranch. Hunt, eat, be merry. We have a cowboy who skins game & cleans camp ($100 tip required). We pack up Sunday & head home. All the excitement of deer hunting plus the wilds of the Old Mexico brush. I've got a wife & 4 kids & while I'm always cautious, I've never felt like I was in any kind of danger & wouldn't do it if I did. I'm on the lease now, but this was from my mgmt. hunt.

Take Vore up on this if you can. Hunting down there is really cool. It is safe and will be a great experience. It is different country and no telling what you might see. I would suggest going in December after a few cold fronts come through. You can rattle them up around then. Vore will help on this.

I'd seriously consider Vore's Mexico offer. I highly recommend those guys. I took my boy down there last year for his first deer hunt. We had a blast. Good company. Good food. BIG deer.

My wife was a little bit weirded out by the Mexico thing (And the fact that it was some dudes I met on the Internet...lol) but our experience was all good and completely safe. These guys pick you up on the US side and take care of everything until you're back at your truck. I've gotten a lot less for a lot more $$ trying to hunt in TX.

May be a bit over driving range, but HK whitetail in Mertzon. All Ags and happens to be part of my deer lease. I think you would be surprised at what you could shoot in your price range.

In that range you can hit up El Sapo Guide Service LLC, I'm sure Brandon will have something good he can put ya on in that range!

That's really good prices for the classes of deer they have listed.
