First time to the area, and I would like any insight available.

I fished this area last Thursday and yesterday and the water has been abnormally high although clarity is fine. High stick the edges and fish around structure/boulders in the middle with midges, worms, eggs and caddis larvae patterns. The most productive spots were just south of interstate overpass and the pools just above the outlet mall walk bridge. A lot of anglers are out so keep moving to the extent you can. Expect more of the same above average flows on the Williams Fork and Colorado if you are thinking of driving north. Good luck!

Did you fish anywhere other than the Blue?

I also fished the Williams Fork tailwater section and main stem of the Colorado at Parshall. The water was still high on both with no other anglers appearing to see fish either. Silverthorne was the better option although it did mean covering a lot of water to bring fish to the net.

Big hatch on the Colorado. We floated from Rancho Del Rio to two bridge. You can rent a kayak or raft at Rancho Del Rio. Love that place. We were there Saturday. Also they will drive your car to your take out spot.

Blue is over fished. Can start in Silverthorne at Sauce on the Blue and work your way up stream. Also good food/ drinks. There is a fly shop in the same parking lot for a resource.

I like small water as well, so I'm also interested in Ten Mile Creek, the Willow Creeks and the Willow Lakes and might trek over to the Frying Pan.

Right behind the outlet there in silverthorne is excellent, although frequently fished and the fish are pretty astute. Just above Breckenridge on the Blue is excellent as well.

I found good Brook trout on drys on the North Fork of Ten Mile Creek. Good Brown and Rainbows on the Ten Mile Creek west of Frisco.

I have stayed away from the big water, and focused on scouting out the smaller public water with native fish. I have fished the North fork of Ten Mile Creek which is easily accessed and full on Brook trout.

I fished Ten Mile Creek from Frisco rec trail going west, and it was slower but the fish were bigger.
Ten Mile from the 1202 intersection between Frisco and Copper Mountain is better is you hike east a couple of miles and drop in under the canyon.

I took my son and a friend up Hwy 9 along the Blue River to Catarac Lake and creek. It was beautiful, but the fishing was not so good.

My favorite so far is Gore Creek just east of Vail. It is a small creek with timber and fast water, but it was full of beautiful fish.

Last pic is from an overpriced guided trip on Dillon Reservoir. We were hoping to catch a bunch of land locked salmon for dinner, but this is all we got.
