Smith are not Luxxotica I believe. Along with Revo.
Totally agree, I would have been more upset with that situation. Odd thing was is that a few of the replacemnt options they gave me were for G lenses, just not in a style I would wear. While not a bad experience for me, I see the frustration. This is my only pair of Costas and will be my last. I had to find out what the hype was about but there are too many good options out there to spend +/- $200 with them.Thisguy1 said:1997 AG said:
Just had the exact same issue as OP with a pair of Corbinas. Got the exact same email. Chose black with grey P lens since they didn't offer my tortoise with green P. As soon as UPS scanned the ones I was sending back, they shipped mine. All in all less than a week to get a new pair with a day or two in there before I packaged and UPS picked up. Frustrating that they didn't have the exact ones but all in all not terrible.
Different color is one thing but if I'm sending you glass lenses I should get glass lenses back. That's something like an $80 different in price.
Text me and I'll resend you the receiptAgEng06 said:
You guys that are getting warranty service, do you have your receipt to submit as well?
I need to send in a pair of Fantails, but I got them from EyeGuy and don't have a receipt. I'm hoping I can get by without it (and still get the warranty).

I just mailed mine in when the nose piece fell off. The sent me a new pair rather than repairing the old
The same thing just happened to me with my 3 year old fantails 580g. Rubber was coming off the ear pieces. Submitted the claim, mailed them in expecting a repair and 2 weeks later a brand new pair showed up.
We're they the same glasses? I'm worried they're going to send me plastic lenses.

Bringing this back up because I just got an email back from Costa on my warranty issue. I have a pair of Fantails w/ blue mirror 580G lenses. Fantail is a discontinued style, so I have a few options, most of which include camo frames (which I don't really want).
The one pair of black frames has "Sunrise Silver Mirror 580G" lenses. Does anyone have any thoughts on these lenses?

When I had to replace my 580G Cortez due to Neal chipping on the Costa emblem, I was super bummed that the Cortez frames were discontinued. Costa let me pick out any non-Ocearch pair, and I got the (new at the time) smoke grey mirror blue glass Rincons. Well now the enamel is coming off the Costa emblem on these, but I love this pair. Unfortunately one of the arm screws gets loose too often on this pair so I am dreading sending them in.
Sure seems like the quality is going down. I did buy another pair of 580G Cortez on eBay and still have a pair of 580G Fisch too. I love these glasses so much for fishing and everyday wear.
oh I've lived with the screw getting loose for all but 2 of the 14 months I've owned them. I keep a screwdriver with me to tighten them up. They still got loose way too soon. The reason I'll eventually send them is for the enamel coming off the Costa emblem. I am still a big Costa fan.TarponChaser said:Ocean Of Funk said:

I hate to be that guy but the arm screws coming loose isn't a manufacturer defect. It's something that just happens over time, no matter what. Especially if you stretch out the arms but resting them on top of your head or over your hat. Go to the drug store and get a $10 eyeglass repair kit and it's got a tiny screwdriver- then when they get loose just tighten up the screw a bit. It will loosen up again but it's just what happens to literally every single pair of glasses out there cheap or expensive.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, these would be for everyday usage as well as fishing. Sadly the only options that aren't camo frames are these silver ones and a pair of 580P w/ a tan frame.
I'm going to give them a call and see if I can figure something else out.

Well... Got my offer back today from Costa...
Cracked lens is not a manufacture defect, so its not covered. They'll sell me a new pair of the same glasses for what shakes out to be 30% off. Kind of wish it was just a 30% off coupon of any pair, because I wouldn't mind changing things up (I've had the same pair for 6 years). I can probably do better than their offered price if I shop around online. Oh well....

I have 2 pairs with cracked lenses and frames that are peeling. Maybe I just need to send them in and hope for the best. I did the online warranty service and sent them pictures. They rejected it.
