I need a new set of steak knives but don't want to go crazy on cost. Are there any that are worth a dang that are dishwasher safe? I'm open for suggestions on your favorite brand or style. Thanks and enjoy your weekend!

Look at Laguiole. As with any brands, don't go serrated. Get the high end straight blades that holds an edge real well.

Same end result.

We have had a set of the Cutco table knives for about 30 years, without any problems. What I like about them is that they will cut through meat like any steak knife, but at the same time the shape is not pointed so you can still use it to spread butter, mayo, etc easily.LRHF said:
The cutco steak knives are really good. They have a unique serrated blade that keeps the knive sharper, doesn't dull on the plate, saves the sharp edge for meat. All knives need resharpening and they do it for free, just pay shipping. They aren't fancy full tang knives but they freaking work well. And yes, dishwasher safe.
Edit- just checked their website, we have the "Table Knife". Their steak knife is indeed a full tang knife.

What are you eating with a steak knife that requires the spreading of mayo?
only if you lick your plate.meggy09 said:DatTallArchitect said:Cutting a steak versus chewing a steak is apples and orangesMarauder Blue 6 said:No one tell him what teeth are for.FIDO*98* said:

+1 more for AC's Henkels suggestion
Aren't Henkel steak knives serrated? Wait, let me look at mine. Yep. They are.

How about only 1 big one with the corner pocket? We do "steak night" - the whole 1 1//2" ribeye cast iron skillet & oven thing - and there are no plates at the table etc. We slap the finished steak on a platter, some one slices it, and everyone digs in - and sops up the juice with French bread. Now we use cheesy plastic platters - a fancy cutting board like that would be awesome! Thinking something in the range of 18"x18" or 24" x 24" - more like a big cutting board with the the drain channels and big corner pocket.drummer0415 said:FIDO*98* said:

As pictured, those were $100 each, but he also chose the most expensive options possible. They could be done for less by using a more economical wood, face grain instead of end grain, no corner pockets, etc.
This customer was local so no shipping was involved.
I don't mind shipping any of my products, but the customer pays whatever the actual shipping costs are. Being solid hardwood, these things aren't light, so shipping a set from Houston to DFW for example would probably cost about $30-$35 for UPS ground and proper packing materials.
